As i had a friend is getting tired of waiting for a decent S1, he is thinking of going to see a Noble 3R, just wanted to know are they any good in terms handling and maintenance cost etc since i have no experience so i cannot give him any good advice.
These bring back some memories!
Handling sublime, power delivery great. On the downsides, can be horrendously expensive to repair, clutch is engine out, 20 plus hours, plus all the little bits that will need changing at the same time. Chassis are prone to rust, as its a simple box section with lots of little holes in to hold the floor on with pop rivets, that then break off and fall out, leaving a 2mm hole. Some eye watering parts prices - front upright was over a grand.
If he really wants one, make sure it has the track day sump, LSD if a 5 speed, uprated fuel pump wiring/pump and lots of history. There’s a load more other bits that are nice to have, but those 3 are the must haves.
Have a look on Pistonheads for more info, and there is a invite only forum from memory.
I may know of such a car for sale very soon

Yours???
running cost are bad, it was a choice for me between the S and a GTO 3R, I walked away from the 3R whe the dealer told me the average running casts were 2.5k per year if I didn’t track it!
