Nasty moment when out and about in the Seat this afternoon.
Been off to the tip to drop of grass clippings and on the way back was making brisk progress along B road when came up behind a car that was slowing to make a right turn. Foot on the brakes and nothing, well next to nothing. Right up within inches of his bumper before I stopped, handbrake on, pedal rock hard and me mashing it as hard as I could. Turns out the vacuum hose to the servo had split doing away with all the servo assistance. One of those moments that makes you think!

Similar happened to me many years ago …
I had a Rover 400 diesel (cos I worked at Longbridge) … the camshaft snapped where it drove the vacuum pump !
Never did fix it and did another 100,000 miles on it …
