No mate, I think you really did waste it…
Heres a marginally funny and entirely random video to make up for it…

If the cable has snapped at the lever end, you can get to the cable by removing the rear wheel arch liner. Not sure what you do if the cable has snapped (come unattached) at the catch end though
Very good David, hmmm well Pesky i’ll go and whip the tray off in the morning and see if I can gain access to the catch. The cars been spot on now i’ve completed all the little tasks that were needed, ran perfect all day at Bedford on Monday and was easily the quickest car out that day. Can’t belive the cables let me down, anyway i’ll up date you tomorrow. I have a feeling I won’t be very happy.
I think your best access route is to remove a wheel arch liner - the rh one is where the cable runs so you have to take that out to change it anyhow …
I’ve tryed that Andy, theres no way of reaching. I need to get good and get the tray off. brb
Managed to open the engine cover, the best way was through the N/S/R wheel arch. The only problem now is removing the outer cable from the body where you pull it! Has anyone done this before?
Yes, I have. You will find you can get to it from the inside by removing the seats and trim with speakers in.
