Nitrons bits fitted!

A friend of mine is just about to fit trackday pro’s so I’ll keep you posted

G’day! I have the latest developement of the Nitron NTR dampers on my car. These are the trackday pro version (though I am NOT a track day pro!!!). After a few trials with different spring rates to cope with the ‘lard’ of my 935KG Exige ‘S’, I settled on 550F and 650R…

On the track these rates are great and have helped tame the roll and pitch of all the top heavy ‘S’ lard! Despite these spring rates, the car is just superbly damped and compliant on the roads, even more so that the standard OEM Bilsteins!!! I have had quite a few peeps I have taken out for a drive comment on the very same.

If you are mostly tracking the car, I think the extra money is very well spent on the trackday pro version, however the trackday set-up is equally excellent. The step up that these new Nitrons have made is very significant, the build quality excellent and the service top drawer.

I you are ‘local’ to the Midlands, I would be more than happy to take you out for a drive so you can see for yourself. We have some great roads in the Cotswolds! with some good bumpy stretches… the car always feels totally planted!

Give Guy at Nitron a call… he is very helpful… say ‘hi’ from Pete the Pilot too!

Hi Pete,

Interesting to see you ended up going a little stiffer on your spring rates. When I saw the rates you went for first I thought they may not be enough as they were lower than mine. Mine are 430F and 560R and I love it. Another big thumbs up for Nitron!

Yep MUCH better mate! Thx!

It’s difficult to describe just how much better they are now eh! :sunglasses: Thumbs up indeed!

Hey Pete

Thanks for the reply, I live in Jersey where as far as i know there are only two other Exiges so it’s difficult to try new things out. I’ve been chatting to Dave at Seriously Lotus, who has been very helpful, and having spent time researching it this evening I think i’m going to go for the NTR 46mm with track setting spring rates. The one way adjustable ones as I know i’m not going to be adjusting them all the time.

Not really done much else to the car but I’m really excited about getting these fitted and setup properly.

Cheers

You will adjust them if you are anything like me, soft and compliant to and from the track (saves on the dentist bills) and then much firmer while on track, nice and easy to do on the one ways as well

Nitron racepro 1 way (46mm) little bit more but a superb bit of kit!!! the 2010 dampers have a better hign speed bump valving set up so are better over the bigger lumps and bumps (not as crashy!!!)

Excited now just want to get them on the car and feel the difference. I’ve driven an 09 260cup which had the adjustable bilstein and that was better so hopefully this should make an even bigger difference.

Hey Pete

Did you try 550f 700r by any chance? That’s what i’m going for with the intention being that if i find it to stiff i’ll go for 650r and maybe 500f. What other rates did you try?

That sounds very stiff to me. Pesonally unless you live on track I would go lower.

p.s. I am not yet convinced by the need for the 46mm unless you are some knind of racing god, my new spec NTR’s are awesome, personally I would go that way and save the

I’m expecting it to be quite stiff on the basis that i’d rather it to stiff and reduce it if required. Am thinking may end up with 650 on the rear. Discussed this with Dave at seriously Lotus and this is what Nitron are recommending for this shock for track settings. Should’ve asked them what they recommend for racing, cannot be much stiffer.

Wish i was a driving god. Car is mostly used for trackdays and the intention is that it’ll most likely be turned into a more track focused car rather than a road car in the future. Hence going for the 46mm. I’m keen to do some racing but have not got the at the moment. Hopefully i’ve done the right thing, soon find out.

Thanks for the heads up

Great move!

Let us know what you think eh! :sunglasses:
