Nissan and me

I am probably going to do Oulton tomorrow with bookatrack. Due to the stupid amount of press the GTR has had, is it as quick as everyone is making out ? There is one going and I am just curious …

Cheers.

Much depends upon the driver, I reckon, Dave.

On the road, cross country, I’m sure that they are rapido/bonkers! However, on track…who knows, but no doubt you’ll find out & let us know!

If the weather is okay, I was thinking of popping down for a gander myself, at around midday, for a couple of hours - perhaps see you there :sunglasses:

It will depend on the weather for me. I will leave it until tomorrow and see if its snowed or not. Otherwise, see you there.

Obviously you are right about the driver. It will be interesting to see one on track though, on the road they look huuuuggge.

Saw one a Oulton last year…fair to middling, just a shame it sounded like Prius :frowning:

huh, “fair to middling” … surely not, its supposed to be at least as quick as a gt3 rs, and they aint slow. must be the driver, surely ?

I think Sean and John turned up, it wasn’t going that quick at the OP LOT day, not the track for it I guess. TBH I don’t think I’ve seen one match a GT3 for pace either on Book a Track days. Nice tho. I saw a stripped out racer at Anglesey that was proper quick! After market exhausts looked like…well bloody HUGE!

Im guessing that might be down to the type of people who buy them, maybe. A lot of people have the opinion that porsche’s arent that quick at track days, then you meet one on track that is driven properly and you understand. (well thats my experience)

have some stars …

U2

I don’t think you will find too many people pushing them on track.

For one, they are fucking mental and most people don’t know how to drive them I suspect.

And second, they are stupid money to use on track.

I nearly bought one, and kind of glad I didn’t!

There are better and more fun track cars out there. But a half well driven one will monster an Exige.

Jonny and I met a cool chap at Spa last year, who flew his over. He took me out in it, and it actually hurt my neck almost Clarkson style. And that was just the acceleration!

Awesome.

the one at oulton was going well, in the snow ! lets just say I didnt use my right indicator all day ;o)

second thoughts … cant wait to see one in the dry at a fast track, they must fly !!

Good to see you again yesterday David - you were going very nicely!

Did you get sorted with Jonny?

Good to talk ! I am waiting on an email from Jonny about the R300. As soon as he replies I will know what I am doing.

Hopefully not bothering with the R300 though!

Enjoyed our chat on friday David, nice to put another face to a name.

Your car looked properly quick around Oulton :sunglasses:

Sorry i missed you Rob! I left late morning.

Graham.

Same here matey. See you on track soon I hope (with your freshly painted bits !)

Sorry to miss you too Graham - hope family are well.

My mate has had a new GTR since they were delivered here last year.

He’s an ‘German fancier’ really and had an RS4 and a 911 before this. He’s been considering a GT3 to replace it.

Its taken him while now to really get into it and the Porker is now not on the cards. Lives outside and its a daily driver whatever the weather.

I took it out recently and its looney tunes. Sounds like a WWII warbird and goes like one too!

If the road ahead appears to be clear of traffic it wont be by the time its in top gear.

Grips and pulls like a ‘bastard’ (whatever that really means).

Feels massive compared to the Exige but everything does I suppose.

I could do him on a roundabout but thats it

Not sure if they will arrive on track as the bits are a fortune and theres too much badge snobbery for the monied racing types to get into them.

I love it but then I always loved big Datsuns since my step dad bought a 240z when I was about 10!
