Newcastle

Starting working with a new client, Virgin Money, who’s HQ is Gosforth, Newcastle.

So I will be going up there regularly and staying over 2-3 nights.

Does anyone have recommendations for places to stay, go or eat?

I will be taking the road and mountain bike with me to train post-office so any recommendations for good riding areas would be helpful too.

The Bigg Market is a good riding area on Friday nights.

Depending on your budget and what your after you could try The Snowy Owl Pub & Restaurant in Cramlington - Vintage Inns about 15 mins drive from Gosforth, we go here for a pub meet once a year an the food is very good. There is some country lanes to the west where a lot of bikers go on a weekend. At the other end of the scale is http://www.matfenhall.com/ which is about a 30 min drive to Gosforth but well out in the sticks with some good biking roads.

Have a look down at Hamsterly Forest for mountain biking. Or take a bit more time and head upto Glentress for the day.

But you’ll have to go topless.

+1 for The Snowy Owl, properly nice food in a decent setting with good staff too
Hamsterly Forest has some good downhill and a bit of “Northshore” style trails (allbeit on a tiny scale)

Give me a bell when your up Damon. Be good to catch up while your only a couple of miles away.
