Newbie

Hi - I’m the latest newbie and also new to running a Lotus.

Live in Bedfordshire.

Well welcome - from the spec of your car you don’t do things by halves

What are your plans for it - is it a commuter car, weekend warrior or trackday demon?

Drive a black 240 cup road

Did you buy from Stratstone MK?

Not sure yet.

I work from home a lot, so it’ll be a commuter for a couple of days a week and thrashed around the lanes for the rest of the time (once she’s run-in)

As for track days, me thinks I’ll need to beef up my driving skills. I’m more used to front wheel drive and will need to have some tuition to handle the Lotus corrrectly.

I was thinking about one of the driving courses at the factory. Any idea if they’re worth the money?

Yep - Was that a mistake?

I know I paid thru the nose, but couldn’t resist.

WELCOME!

Good choice, but you just have to track it, it’ll blow your socks off!

I’ve only heard glowing reports and knowing some of the instructors (Lotus designers and ex-racers) you couldn’t be in better hands.

That said, Andy Walsh (www.carlimits.com) is very good, cheaper and perhaps a better place to start for a novice to get more out of the Lotus day.

Ian

Thanks Ian. I’ll give Andy Walsh a look.

Not at all - RobS is an S1 Exige owner, & a frequent visitor here. He is also a top bloke, & merits support

They are rather expensive, even taking into account the calibre of the instructors…if I was you I would spend the money on a few trackdays and pick up some instruction whilst there. Most of the trackday companies have instructors there on the day and with some I think the instruction is free if its your first day with them.

You could also try blagging a few rides with other people there on the day.

He seems like a genuine guy. Also a good salesman. Given the cost of the car I thought I could get a better deal, but he wasn’t budging.

No regrets though, and I’ll still get it serviced there, even though Castle are nearer.

The other guy - James - seems full of enthusiasm too.

Ahem…
