Newbie with a nice S1 + Diffuser Question

Hi gents,

I’ve just found and bought (actually it found me) an S1 laser blue Exige. (Was looking for a mint S1 Elise…)

12700 miles. One owner. VHPD. Leather seats. FSH. A/C. Original paint with a few stonechips but certainly doesn’t need a front paint.

Never been tracked and all original.

Fear not it wasn’t cheap. I researched this site and paid a fair old whack for it!

Fantastic machine! Although the cammy temperment of the motor makes central London interesting! I’ve only driven it once!

I want to put a rear diffuser on it. The more I research the more puzzled I am.

Basically I want one that doesn’t stick out. My car has an ally underpanel at the back which butts up to the clam which I will assume is standard.

Anyone got any pics of examples on their cars so I can make an informed choice.

Thx

Congratulations and welcome to exiges.com.
I have an Edwards diffuser but no pics to hand unfortunately. It does not protrude greatly and looks the part.
Steve.E is the person to contact via PM on here.

Mine came from via eBay:

I bought mine from ‘Lotus Fred’ on Seloc (Mark) Mines the back finish flush fit one and looks great. From memory it was around £90 delivered and they are finished really well. If I get chance I’ll get you a pic. Just search his username and send him a U2U. I didn’t know him either, somebody gave me his details just like this.

Steve Edwards at lotuspower.co.uk

That will work brilliant in central London. Lovely. :sunglasses:

Hi,

I got your PM but as a newbie I cannot respond.

Can you post a pic of the diffuser please on your car. I have contacted Lotus Fred and I need to give him the spec.

Thx

No problem at all. I’ll do it tomorrow if I’m feeeling better, got this bloody sickness bug that’s doing the rounds.

Congratulations and welcome. Post some images up.

I would but the file’s are too big

I’ll try to reduce.

I have noticed that the factory ally short diffuser has a grove worn through it which after searching interweb is caused by weak OE exhaust mounts.

I don’t want the same fate to occur to my new diffuser so will order 4 silicone parts. They are a fair bit more than standard MGF items.

Are they relatively simple to fit/replace from below? I know my way round a spanner but don’t want to be getting into a can of right royal can of worms!

I’ve just had one made, OEM. You are welcome to the CAD drawing to alter all you want.

Load images to Photobucket, then paste img code to these dialogue boxes.

Thanks.

I think the diffusers on the two cars in this link are what I want.

Does anyone know what the specific model is??

I can’t post the pics as the file’s are too big!!

Welcome, sounds like a gr at purchase. Laser Blue FTW!

I have a Lotus Power one but it’s quite typical of the four fin types. I’ll look out a few pics. Dead easy to fit, it attaches to the rear subframe, the undertray and the rear clam. Lots of bolts but nothing complex.

Car is filthy in this pic as it’s a wet track day at Knockhill but the low sun gives an unusually good view of the black diffuser. When it’s clean it’s difficult to see in the pics.

Another Edwards diffuser here, just about visible in this pic…

Sorry, best I could do.

Thanks for that.

I’m still pondering! I’m really liking this one. Who makes it!!!

Can I assume expensive?! (I’ve posted the Reverie link but am unsure if it is it. If so my luck…)

I reckon Mark could make you that. It’s only two additional fins, which as you can see from my pic would fit.

I hope you’re not promoting reverse engineering Jonny!!!

No, reverse dimensioning.

Obviously!! :unamused:
