Newbie - Exige S

Thought that now my registration has been finally approved I should post something.

Had the car for two months now, still getting used to it and the levels of grip on the 48’s. I’ve booked myself onto the Car limits day on the 21st.

Current mods are Forge Intercooler and TRD airbox fitted by me and the previous owner had the stage 3 exhaust fitted when new but I’ll be changing that to a full 2Bular system. Then a Gotham remap and lots of activity days/trackdays this year I hope.

Any owners of the Forge Intercooler and TRD airbox, how close do the airbox and intercooler pipework sit? Mine is touching at certain revs and vibrates :frowning: The airbox bracket may need adjusting I think.

Neil.

Hi Neil,

there is a peg on top of the airbox that the pipe will sit on and sqweek, hacksaw the peg off.
No time now as off to work but will pm you later as interested how you got on with fitment of the forge with single strut boot, I had to make some mods and mine still catches at times. I do love it tho.

Boothy

p.s. love your car!

Yeah it does seem to be catching on something protruding up, I’ll hack that off next weekend.

Does the latch on the inner side of the box stay shut? Mine unlatches itself but the box stays more or less shut lol.

As for the Forge, I bought it off ebay for 240 and the cooler touched the underside of the engine cover slightly. Emailed Forge and they sent out some different mounts, I used the small rubber ones as the solid mounts are far too small and it now clears it fine but have put some aircraft erosion tape on the underside of the engine cover

Neil.

Welcome to the site!

Nice car and matching garage

240!!?? Is it the black one? yes my airbox stays shut.

I did get the small rubbers but changed to more solid bushes due to the movement in the cooler with small rubbers and I had an awful sqweek, I later tracked the sqweek to the peg on the airbox.

Yeah it’s the black one

Neil.

Ah I saw it on e-bay before I got mine, its one of the prototypes with a built in adaptor iirc.
Have you opened up your mail slot?

Hi ya and cool colour!!

Mail slot has been trimmed, how do you know it’s a prototype cooler. As far as I know it’s just a special order in that it’s powder coated black.

Neil.

I asked the question at the time, if its the same one it was on ebay at almost the same time as Forge started selling the cooler over their website. Also it has a built in metal adapter where the later ones use the official lotus plastic part.
I went with the later one to make sure I got the latest core design, but at that price you got a bargain so I would not worry about it.
Obviously thats if its the same one! Have you got any pics of it installed?

cheers

No pictures yet, I’ll take some at the weekend.

The shroud from the cooler to the roof duct is plastic and reinforced with a metal strip.

The one I looked at I am sure had a built in metal shroud so probably not the same one.
This is mine, the boot strut was removed after this shot

Why are you getting the 2bular System?

You already have a great Back Box (Stage 3),
simply get the Lotus Sport Sport Cat to complete the Package

A remap is always good when you change exhaust and Airbox

Have fun with your awesome car!

The stage 3 drones far too much coming on and off the throttle to be honest and the noise aspect in getting kicked off track days is a bit risky.

Anyway I ordered a full 2Bular system consisting of 4-1 manifold, silenced de cat pipe and 8X22 through diffuser exhaust

When it’s fitted I’ll purchase a Gotham remap and get it mapped properly to take advantage of it all.

At risk of upsetting the purists …
I have a mod to bypass the “cat”…
Simply chop the pipe leading into the cat and insert a very substantial dril bit, . , . … wear a mask and keep going …
finally re-weld the cut , and , hey presto…
one de-catted car !

Yea iv’e heard all the the quotes " it won’t pass MOT etc…
reality is … it does !
cheers JK

With regards fitting 4-1 manifolds, when Ade first did his car iirc he was getting about 290bhp with just the Gotham and chargecooler (and sports cat) so does that mean that if the std manifold can flow that there is no point without chargecooling as you would probably need a chargecooler to go past that figure anyway?
Or does it work differently? I ask because I have no idea

cheers

Boothy

p.s. JFK that was about as clear as mud to me

Mine was about 270ish with the gotham charge cooler and sports cat. Then around 290ish with the boost upgrade and now around 300 with the manifold and silenced decat. I’m not sure of the benefit of an induction kit, I only use the Lotus sport upgraded airbox as I’m trying to keep the noise down for trackdays.
As soon as you put the manifold on you will need a remap or you will be running lean on WOT.

Is this any clearer ?

The aforementioned De-catting device !!!

PMSL…you pikey

EEK! I think I’ll stick to sports cats
