Hi everyone. Just registered on the forum as I have just sold my M100 Elan which I have owned for the past 3 years since I was 21 and I’m now looking at buying an Exige. A few of you may know me already as I stay well involved with the Lotus Drivers Club.
I have seen a lot of these great cars since I got on the Lotus band wagon and now I can’t resist buying into one. Although I have been around the cars a fair bit it would be good to get some friendly advise in regards to buying. I am primarily looking at an S2 … in Chrome Orange preferably (although this will match the girlfriends hair!).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to being on here often.
Welcome Chris, real shame the Elan had to go, it was a cracking looking car and did not hang about as I remember.
Advice - you won�t be disappointed either way but if it will be a daily drive, you will need to be looking at a S2

Thanks everyone. Harvey, I am going to have the Exige as a weekend car only, so really it is open to debate but I am after low mileage as well. I would like to be in a position to look at say a 240 as an oppose to just the 220 or N/A as like mentioned above it can get expensive very quickly with all the mods which suck you in. As for the Chrome Orange, I’m sure both will look fantastic together.
If primarily I’m looking at an S2, does anyone have anything obvious to say worth watching out for?
Unless you want the looks of the roof and will need the brakes for track use i.e. you want the power just get a 220 and head to CN or Sincs and get ~260hp
Since this is a newbie thread, I thought I would intro myself too.I’ve met quite a few of you guys on various LOT track/exige days in the past 3-4 years so some may already know me. I was at Oulton Park a few weeks back driving a Magnetic Blue S2 Exige with a [cough]fabric[cough] roof It’s been a quiet year on track days for me this year due to work commitment, but I hope catch up with you guys soon.

Welcome on to Exiges.com Chris. In the early days it was easy on here - everybody had an S1 and there was lots to discover… Now there’s 39 different models/variations and I can’t keep up any more!
You will not regret your decision to buy an Exige.
Am now seriously looking at an Exige over the next month for two, obviously trying to utilise the best time to buy. I have been keeping an eye on the market for Orange S2 Exiges, preferably a 220+, but there have been very few.
Just wondered if anyone had seen this car before, or has any suggestions on the price etc. Is the colour, spec and mileage I’m after but maybe slightly too expensive considering it’s a private sale, or am I being too cautious? All experience and help appreciated.
