I was very keen on one and had my name down at Lipscombe Lotus however at 56k it’s about 6k more than I’d want to spend on an Exige of any description. There are some fantastic supercars knocking around right now for circa 50k. 2 friends of mine both saw change out of 50k when buying a Lambo and a 997 Turbo.
However as a 2nd hand proposition in about 2 years time I think the new Exige’s true value will make put it in the right ball park. Stroll on 2013
I can’t see there been too much interest personally at that price…around 55k the Evora S has to be the better GT car. Okay its slightly heavier and slower, but has a better chassis and finished pretty well inside. If its a pure track youre after, then there are loads of faster more exhilarating cars to be had for less.
Saying that, Id probably consider one when the prices drop (would love to see over 400bhp in one!), but fitting a GT3 bodykit to a 330BHP S2 exige is looking like the favorable option.

Where are the sub 50k Gallardo’s ? [/quote]
Both were from BCA in blackbush. Not an auction house for smokey Datsuns with dodgy MOT’s but rather ex lease or contract hire cars of all descriptions. When searching for a new family wagon I bought an 18 month old LC4 land cruiser, FSH with 25k on the clock for 23k as the new family wagon and my mate bought a well spec’d current model V8 M3 for 22k.
I nearly bought a Lexus ISF which ended up going for 25k but didnt need or want one - it just seemed too cheap to not buy!
There is a lot of shiney machinery around at high end auction houses for not a lot of money if you’ve got the cash to spend.

I am now very tempted by something exotic and noisy
22k for E92 M3 makes me very glad I got shot of mine at a premium when they were hit the market in 2007.
Even tho im not a big fan of it, im surprised so many people say that 55k is too dear, remember its roughtly the same power and weight as a Noble M12 GTO3R and im sure they were around the 55k mark, so think of it like that and its not too bad.
I reckon people just think that it is too much for an exige, as we have seen them increase over he years, maybe lotus should have called it something else and it wouldnt sound so dear.
Told the dealer I would have one of the first five subject to price , at the time I was told it would look GT3ish and start at 47k .
Not sure at 55k and the looks I will go ahead with it , all depends on how good the Demo car is .
At least at the V6 55k start price it’s not going to hit S2 second hand prices .
Given the increasing rarity and value of an S1, especially Honda’ed & Supercharged. It will likely be in the 40K zone within a couple of years. Get yours now before the oil runs out and we have to covert to electric!! How much is a Tesla these days.

No, it’s much better than that. The Lotus will be built so as not to look like a kit car & will survive an accident, unlike a fookin Noble
