A couple of my work colleagues have had their cars broken into because they left Sat Nav holders attached to their windscreens. (Both sales guys and were on customer visits to different parts of the country). The annoying thing is the sat nav units weren’t in the cars, but both cars needed bodywork to fix
As the Exige is my daily car, sat nav is a requirement, and not wanting the same fate for my car I devised a plan
I have recovered the rvm glass with velcro hook material, and placed a couple of bits of loop material on the back of my sat nav (actually an Orange SPV M3100 phone with Tom Tom).
I know it sounds a bit of a kludge but I am really impressed with it! The position offers excellent visibility without being distracting. The lack of vibration is MUCH better than silly gooseneck jobs, and now the only thing I need to remove from the car when I leave is my phone (which I’d obviously want anyway)
I’m guessing the point of the mirror is to satisfy some EU legislative requirement for all cars to have one fitted. If so does this legislation still count after the owner has taken delivery? Or is it a “can be ignored once registered” thing?

Si
I took my Exige S rear view mirror off the second I picked up the car because im tall and could hardly see past it and the fact that its useless apart from your idea.
I guess the only reason they have the mirror fitted from new is that the windscreens come pre-fitted with the mirror mounting lug already bonded on. Lotus probably figure it’s easier to fit a mirror than to remove the lug.
