New Track Date

Maybe the last day at Donnington this year.Willie Green is once again running an open pitlane day on the 18th Dec. Track opens 9.30am till 4.00pm, run nice and informal, plenty of track time.As some of you know, I think these are the best days at Donnington and are small numbers with plenty of room & very little bulking. If anyone is interested give me some feedback.Price 175.00.[This message has been edited by trevor (edited 29 November 2001).]

Yeh I could be interested. Just the prospect of slithering round on ice & snow putting me of a little. How much?

Hi Reg,The weather could be nasty, but I guess only a few of us will be interested so lets wait for the forecast and pay on the day. I will need some idea of numbers & interested parties.

Hi TrevSorry, but I’m booked in (provisionally) for Oulton Park on the 19th!Have a great day - & be bloody careful early on [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]

Hi Pesky,It’s a shame you are already booked up for Oulton, but it’s the better venue for the Exige if it’s dry (not much run off in the wet) but don’t let me put you off.Might even give you a ring when I know what the weather is going to do.I can feel a change of plan comming on.Who is running the day & are they fully booked?.

Hi TrevIt’s a Bookatrack day - open pit lane 9.30am to 4pm (1 hour lunch) 125. As far as I know, there are still 24 out of 54 places left. You’re right about the “weather factor”, that’s why I’m still “provisional”. However, I’ve never driven Oulton before (been a passenger for about 100 laps over the years though!), so I’m viewing this as very much a learning day, so I don’t expect to be pushing at all hard!!!Would be great if you were to make it too [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] http://www.bookatrack.com

Oulton is one of my favourite tracks. Only been round on a bike. I can not imagine wet grip being any worse than Donnington. I 'm interested

Having recently done Donington and Oulton in the pooring rain both with EasytrackAlthough I prefer Donington by a long way in the dryI personally found Oulton felt much safer at speed in the rain but there are a few corners you have to give great respect [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]I Didnt find the Exige as good as the my old Elise in the wet (for what its worth)JohnC

Hi John,I’m glad that you think the Elise is better than the Exige in the wet, I would agree the Elise feels much softer & more forgiving. This said I still enjoy driving the Exige in all conditions & never feel it’s going to do anything wierd or alarming ( famous last words ).

I’m booked for Oulton on the 19th with Bookatrack - it would be great to see some of you fellow Exige people there! As an Exige “Rookie”, It would be great to get some advice and tips from you all!Giles

Look out for my 340R too. Unfortunately JimboCam will probably not be operational due to silly Octagon rules however there is a lap of Oulton from 1999 on JimboCam.com if you want to check it out.

A method of timing I would guess.

Went to Oulton today (spectator at Easytrack event). Arrived about 10.15 & left at 3pm - sun shining all day & little breeze. However the track was very damp/greasy most of the time I was there, & a dry line (along pit straight) was not really evident until after lunch. Event was run in 3 sessions per hour, & I only saw 2 sessions which didn’t have a “red flag”. Fingers crossed for the weather on the 19th -but looks like I’ll be Miss Maisie again [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/frown.gif[/image]

They have lots of rules about approved Marshalls, Instructors and Photographers, mostly seem to be a way to maximise their revenue. To get a video pass costs about 300 quid IIRC. I heard that once somebody used a track day to get footage and telemetry for use in a video game rather than hiring the whole track for that purpose. But I can’t really see what the great problem with that was as long as they were complying with the track day rules. I get the impression sometimes that Octagon are a bunch of killjoys.
