New roll cage fitted

Wahey! The car has just been delivered back to me with the new Hotlap full roll cage fitted. First impressions - delighted.

This is the 3rd Lotus that I’ve fitted a full cage in and this time I went a bit wild. It has double A pillar legs at the front, roof hoops (like a caterham) and door bars. All welded in T45 to minimise weight. Photos coming soon…

Unfortunately the initial euphoria of delivery was tainted when the driver took a gouge out of his van on the gatepost while backing the trailer into my driveway, ouch! I really felt gutted for him. Then I tried to drive the car off the trailer. The battery was flat as usual, so I pushed it off the trailer…and ran over my bloody foot with the back wheel, arrgh!!

To top it off when I went in the garage I noticed that the mousetrap on my bench was still set but ‘no cheese’, cheeky little rodents. But I had the last laugh as mickey was firmly parked in trap number two :sunglasses: the benefits of a dual redundancy system.

Anyway, despite all that I’m still delighted to have the car back with the new cage. Can’t wait to rebuild it and get it on track. It should be significantly stiffer than before ( I’m talking about the chassis).

A big thanks to Elgan at Hotlap for a superb job on the cage.

Did you buy it from Podger, or was it free?

Always a good thing to have
