I picked up my S2 in Jan and I have a question regarding the Pipercross induction kit.
The car came with a Stage 2 exhaust fitted and I think it sounds fantastic. Has anyone out there fitted a Pipercross induction kit when they already had a Stage 2 exhaust fitted? I’m wondering if you think it makes much of an improvent to the sound?
It does improve the sound but there are a couple of issues which should be considered. The first is that it can cause MIL light problems. The second is if you are planning on doing any track work you may struggle to pass the noise tests!
Hi Ed, I was going to get a stage 2 with pipercross but in the end settled for stage 1. It’s still great noise at full chat but won’t give you any problems with the track day police !
I found the Pipercross definately improved my midrange.
My car from new had a stage 2 and a Pipercross induction kit. It is loud! I struggled to get on track days and was quite loud on road too!
I than put a standard zaust back on and was surprised at how good it sounded (only loud when you hit the throttle. I then ditched the induction kit and got a 2bular zaust which was the mutts nuts!
The issue with the MIL light seems to effect newer cars (post 05 year cars)
I think the Stage 2 exhaust on its own is pretty loud so I wouldn’t want to increase the flat out volume by much!
Does adding the pipercross make a big increase in volume, or does it just change the tone and stay at the same kind of level?
Although I’m not an S2 Exige owner, I have driven quite a few, including fitted with stage 2 & Pipercross on track. For me, it was too “boomy”, & very uncomfortable when the 2nd cam came on,even when wearing a helmet. Was also having to back off, when passing the noise meter at Donington ie too loud for 98db trackdays. By comparison, Jaycee has a Blueflame exhaust plus Pipercross, & that sounds great (to me), & he doesn’t have a problem at trackdays.
I have a pipercross with the standard exhaust and I’ve test driven an Exige with the stage 2. In car at least my car is a lot louder when it goes onto the second cam, it sounds great but it is LOUD
Agree with Pesky. For me the Pipercross with a Stage 2 is uncomfortably loud. I remember paxing with Jamie at Croft when he had this combination, and I though my head was going to explode, even with a helmet on . I am also not convinved that the filtration on some of these aftermarket induction kits is as good as the standard airbox/filter.

The Pipercross sounds great but it is VERY loud when it hits 6200rpm, it sounds like a gun going off inside the cabin With my noise meter inside it registers 108db at 6200rpm, not nice but no prob with ear plugs and a helmet on but I did look a bit daft sat outside Tesco waitng for the Naggin Tackle
As an aside I had to modify the hoses supplied to stop the filter fouling the bodywork and chassis. Also the Blue Flame was fitted with an 100cpsi sports CAT (hi flow) which resulted in the MIL light staying on. I do like the look of the Blue Flame though as it’s totaly different to other exhausts (although not to eveyones taste).
