New Exige S owner

Hi all,

I am the proud owner of an Exige S, which I got the day before my 30th birthday - a nice present to myself.

The car is amazing, and faster than anything i’ve been in, and i’ve had some fast stuff!

Just sold my 2nd S2000 (am a mod on the S2ki) but had an Evo 8 (400 bhp) 5 impreza’s, a DC2, a DC5 and some other stuff I can’t remember!

It’s taken we 10 days to get signed up here, buy good to get on at last

So hopefully this shall be my new home!

Back to the car - I took it to Rockingham this Sunday for a baptism of fire

I did meet one fellow Exige owner too - forgot your name though mate?!

The car was pretty damn good, but I was taking it very easy.

The car also has a bad flat spot when you put the foot down, so it’s going back to the Lotus dealer next week for a further look.

Anyway, hello to you all. Will have lots of questions for you!

First one is on remaps - who are the main companies to do this and what sort of hike can be expected?

Hi and welcome nice car

On the remap front their is only one option at present which is available from Sinclaire Motorsport Clicky There are no details on their website so ring Wayne for more details power goes up to about 260bhp
If you want to go further they do a charge cooler package as well Details , my car is the first one to have both and it is great. Their is also another option for charge cooler and remap together which is the Komotec sold by Hanger 111. Both similar around 280+bhp and about 4500 fitted, I made my choice to buy the Sinclaire\Proalloy conversion and so far mine is the only one, there are a couple of 280S Komotec conversions running around. PM me for more info why I bought what I did.
Full details of my car are Here
The main thing is to drive it and enjoy it

Welcome to Exiges.com .

Before you look at remapping the engine there are a few other things you can do:

  1. Fit a stiffer/adjustable front ARB.

  2. Change the suspension, the OE fit is good ‘out of the box’ but is still a compromise between road/track. There are plenty of options but Ohlins and Nitrons are popular.

  3. Get the geo looked at, it’s not unusual for a Lotus to leave the factory with it ‘slightly’ out - it is amazing what a difference a quick check/adjustment can make.

The remap is not so simple ! Sinclaires are the UK supplier for the Gotham upgrade but all this provides is a new ECU and bigger injectors - claimed gains are up to 45bhp. A better solution is to get the upgrade and change the intercooler at the same time! Proalloy do a kit that costs about 4000 inc. VAT.

Another option is Komotec through Hangar111, more expensive at 4500-5000 but gives 280(ish)bhp.

Hope that helps…

Thanks chaps,

I am probably only after 20 bhp or so, I never like to push things. I also want to retain the OEM ECU ideally.

RE the suspension, it’s going to be more of a road car than a track car so the billies will be staying for now. I’m more coming to the conclusion that hiring a Caterham is the way forward!

I was led to believe I already have an adjustable front ARB? Mine is the sport pack so has harnesses, traction control etc.

The Geo I will definately get looked at - anyone have the advised settings?

I love driving this car day to day, apart from parking which is comical. I have had to get out and check nothing is behind me a couple of times now

Will take a look at those links in a bit

Sadly there is not a tune that will give you 20hp, however by the time a I added a sports cat decent exhaust and the charge cooler that was about where I was with the standard ECU. See Here

I did meet one fellow Exige owner too - forgot your name though mate?!

Hello again Mark, glad you joined mate, watch out for those dodgy S1 owners talk about chips on shoulders Later mate

JOHN!

JOHN!

Yeah, but our chips are lighter than yours!

graphite… the best colour!

Ade, good info there.

On the induction side, I see ITG Maxogen do some stuff for the Elise / Egixe S2 but no mention if they cover the Exige S? I’m guessing the intake is different on the S?

Hi John - nice to meet you! Love the car.

Exigeboy - ta

Mr Pesky - a guy I work with had one of the first Exige S1’s, in Red and used it for hillclimbs. Since I saw it all those years ago, I wanted an Exige His used to break down a lot though

I’m getting there Rob!

As a bit of advise, don’t put an induction kit on, just change the filter, sadly the throate size on induction kits are NOT the same where the MAF sensor is, this means the car will run lean and more than likely loose power :open_mouth:

Got you.

Have seen a few MAF problems with induction filters on Impreza’s and Evo’s due to confusing hte MAF reading.

I think you had good results with a panel replacement so will go with that.

(lean on fuel will actually make it go quiker though, to the detriment of the engine)
