New Car

Sold the exige last week after finding out mrs was pregnant and decided to get a more practical car.

Ended up with this

Standard apart from HKS exhaust and a Remap, has 404hp and a shed load of times. Handling is something else aswell. Miss my exige but this is a worthy replacement. :slight_smile:

Never been a fan, but my friend had a Evo 8 FQ400 that was balistically fast in a stright line till the corner struggle a bit on\off boost get overtaken by everyone till the next straight, great fun and went sideways well just as you didn’t expect it too :wink:
PS, the antilag is briliant if you can turn it on :wink:

Mitsubishi are doing some cracking deals on new Evo 10’s, a 3 year servicing deal for a few hundred quid.

Worth a punt.

On another tack, I saw (for the 1st time) a Nissan 370Z soft top, first rag top I’ve seen that actually looks great with the hood up !!!

(no hijack intended).

It was originally an FQ300. Luckily the 4B11T engine is fantastic. Takes 550bhp on standard internals reliably. All thats done to mine is an exhaust and remap.

Having a new exhaust built on the 14th, comprising turbo elbow, downpipe and 3" mandrel bent system, bigger fuel pump and a map tweak. Should push it upto 420-430bhp and take out the flat spots i currently have. Engine will be left alone then.

Now comes the bit your probably not going to beleive. The handling is better than that of the exige. ducks for cover But everything feels better, turn in, feel on the limit etc. And on totally standard equipment, im really looking forward to getting suspension on it and getting it set up. I still want another lotus as a weekend toy, just because of the mechanical feel of it and how amazing they are to drive.

FQ400 is achknowledged in the evo world (unless they were silly enough to buy one) to be an absolute lemon. Mitsi did a terrible job with it. Stupidly laggy turbo that was either on boost or off, and very bad mapping and drivability. Even the stig struggled with it on top gear. :frowning:
