New car, not a Lotus though

Well after owning two tuned Lotus, I thought I would have another.

But alass the dealers cound not come up with a deal which sounded nice, I was after a 2009 Cup260 or a 2010 Cup 260.

But dealers just seemed to try it on with stupid prices which I did not have time for.

So I bought this, and hope to see you on track soon
I aways wanted to try one anyway.

Very nice. I’m quite local to you so may have to have a nose around it sometime.

Nice car, brave man!

I will need to be brave, when its tuned with another 80BHp over winter.

New intercooler on order so far.
But it puts a smile on your face when you plant your right foot.
Also the looks and stares you get are amazing, and every one wants to take pictues and chat to you lol.

Amazing turn in on corners and never any understeer, ever
should be fun

I think they are great looking cars… love to have a ride in one sometime.

Are they really as unreliable as their reputation suggests?

only the same as a Lotus imho.
you could say the same about honda drive shafts in the early days on SC cars.

I have been on a low loader 3 times in my Lotus ownership, so you have to go into ownership open minded.

Many have been fixed now and weak points known.

Wireing looms, ball joints, fuel pumps , exhausts etc etc.
later cars had track sumps, 6 speed boxs and LSD’s which I made sure this car had.

People on the Noble forum over all seem to love them.
and it is a true drivers car with strong resale now.

I will replace the wireing loom, intercooler and some other areas of the car ready for spring.

Great choice! Lovely colour too! I’m from Leicester too, so I hope to see you around in it! I was two minded from one of these and an Exige. Which dealer you go to for a Cup?

all the ones which had 2009 models sitting around not selling

best price was 45k for an out of date model lol no thanks

the other one was a 2nd hand one for sale for 40k and was no offers.

no one phoned me back regarding 2010 cup 260 prices :frowning:

cannot afford to lose 10k in a year on a car atm so the Noble was a wise choice i hope.

The colour is amazing and the only Noble in that colour I have the receipt for over 60k new on it eak and got it way less than advertised, also it only has 14k miles on it and looks like new.

been offered 2k more than I paid for it already which feels nice.

What Dave says (answered)…Colour looks awesome!

3R? Great car! I so nearly bought an M400 instead of the Exige back in 2005. What amazed me most was the quality of the ride on the B roads. I’d expected it to be rock hard, but it was very nicely done.

In the end it was only the thought of the 20K first year depreciation that killed it for me. Price wise they make a great buy now.

I’m surprised how few you now see on track days, particularly compared to when they were new. Does that indicate that they are fragile when pushed hard?

How much did you pay if you don’t mind me asking ?

What spec is it ? bhp/weight ?

Wiring loom must be a huge job ?

So many of us seemed to have considered one of these, I nearly got a 3R then bought the Exige, the thing that scared me off was the dealer when I asked about average yearly running costs for a road (not tracked) car, he suggested average was 2.5k per year plus tyres, I at that point ran very quickly to Castle and bought the Exige
Great car though and if money was not such an issue there would be one sitting in the garage next to the Exige

Not going to say what I paid but nice ones are well under 30k

The spec is the 3R with LSD, track sump and 6 speed, I am lucky as I live next to the new Noble factory and know people there so can get parts and advice and do a history check. Also there are some great guys at bruntingthorpe who look after them who are factory Noble Engs.

weight dead on a ton power is 350BHp but will be 420BHp by spring, 0-60 in <3.5 and to a 100Mph in 8. So prob faster than a SC honda car or on par with one.

On the road it rides better than the Lotus as Evo said its quite a shock.

no way does it cost 2.5k plus tyres, its only a ford engine, on a space frame with 2 turbo’s, parts seem cheap enough.

not all the wireing needs changing people say its an easy job.

It will cost me 5k to get it where I want, but you can spend that on a Lotus on the same sort of things,

seem ok to work on as both clams tilt and come off easy.

Sould be great fun , if you see me on track come and say hi.
But it will not be a track set up car as it’s so good on B roads now. I am not fitting Nitrons for track use but I guess it would be amazing with them on.

Will try it at bedford 1st as its all a bit new to me and it’s a good test track, but will do donny and cadwell in 2010.

I do like Nobles and a second hand one was the only serious alternative to the new Exige. Servicing costs were a consideration. I was quoted almost 500 + VAT for a 6k service and somewhere between 700 - 800 + VAT for an annual one. A couple of owners at track days said I should allow for around 2.5k per annum which tallies with what ade was told. That, together with their perceived fragility and being slightly less practical than the Exige decided it for me on the basis I’d run my previous Exige for 3 years and 26k miles and it had cost me slightly less than bugger all.
