Just have a quick question regarding the routing of the throttle cable on the Exige. Of all the things I took millions of photos of when I took mine apart, I neglected to get this detail.
I know it comes out and clips to the fuel tank shear panel and then routes under the sump, up the rear right corner of the engine and around the top to the throttle linkage. but mine almost seems too long (it really hangs down underneath the car).
I’ve got mine going up between the lower engine mount (steady bar) and the cross-brace on the wishbone. Given the extra slack I seem to have on the cable though I’m thinking it might go around the outside of the wishbone cross-brace?
Also, is there an attachment (clip) between the cable and the sump or the engine block somewhere?
If anyone can shed any light it’d be much appreciated!
Thanks for that info, very helpful… if you can confirm it next time you’ve got your head under there, that’ll be great. I’m not in the world’s biggest hurry to sort it finally, especially if it’s not routed wrongly (can be clipped in place instead of being removed from the end.
I don’t think I’ve got any other clips for it (I didn’t remove the engine or the throttle cable), although I’ve got a box of leftovers that might have some of this stuff in it.
I’ve got the small plastic clip on the shear panel fitted, it’s just from there on up to the throttle linkage on the TBs that I’ve not got anything for.
I’ll snap some photos tonight and stick them up to clarify what’s going on… unsure yet whether I can take up the slack elsewhere. I’ve not really looked into it in any detail, just saw last thing yesterday that it was hanging down and looked like it had a lot of slack to take up.
Hi George…The Edwards boys fitted a replacement cable during recent engine change and even though it was supposidly a new S1 cable it was too long by about 20mm so they had to makeup aspacer at the throttle body end to accomodate it.
Doesnt sound this is your prob but might be useful once you determine the final fitting.

Block’s just fine… just gave myself a little fright is all
As for the reports, I know pretty much everyone on here is also on SELOC as well, even just as a lurker so they can keep tabs on there… besides, with all the updates, I might end up knocking Pesky off the leaderboard
Will take some pics tomorrow - but by the look of it the cable needs to be lifted higher above the dipstick so its more horizontal as it approaches the throttle mechanism - it should be attached to the dipstick sheath by a double plastic clip btw -should remove a fair amount of the slack.
Mind you my engine bay pics won’t be as clean as yours
