a bit of sun and ive started thinking about summer tyres…in fact a bit of sun and ive gone giddy…the credit card’s behind my ear…

can i ask, does a set of 888’s at 620 seem good value. seems the best i can find, thats from camskill…anywhere else i should try…

thanks

You could ‘try’ lots , but Yoyo 888 are the best IMHO

yep its going to be 888’s i think. just didnt know if 620 was a decent price…

When I spoke to Toyo direct a week or so ago, Alan said supply this year (2012) could be a little better, but some sizes ( Exige) may get harder to find in the Summer. I think he said in ‘tyre sizes’ for a manufacturer they are low volume, or odd sizes to the norm’ . I can’t fully remember the minutiae .

Yes I paid 634 , this time last year, and had to scratch around for supply , so 620 a year later is good!!

As Mike says, 888s are superb (although others on here prefer Yoko 48s) - given the supply shortage, the price will be the price! Whilst I can’t fault Camskills, you need to also budget for fitting & balancing - say 15-20 per wheel.

Plus hassle of finding someone to fit.

Have you tried Bookatrack - do a fitting service if you are coming to Anglesey (and can wait that long).

If it is any help at all, we have a place by us (DY2 8UB) that will fit, valve and balance a tyre for 7.50

We have only just started using him, but he has done a great job so far.

I found the best results (especially with 48’s) come from the tyre balancers that use the finger plates which hold the wheel to the machine by the 4 bolt holes rather than the usual machines you find in Kwik-Fit and the likes which use the centre hole.

…and also using the red or yellow tyre marks to line them up first before blowing them onto the beads.
