Name that tune

Hi, got a noise on the car, its only when coasting, no throttle, mainly in first and second, when the revs are dropping but if the clutch is pressed it disappears. Best I can describe is like a grinding/milling stones noise, wondered if it was the clutch. Ive always had it but today was very noticable…

Any ideas? cheers

Mine sounds like a bag of spanners in a tumble drier doing the same thing, mines fine. Any difference in pedle height or loss of drive? What clutch have you got?

Gear changes seem alright, and pedal feels ok. Ive got standard issue clutch, car has just done 11K, been driven hard though

Sound like ping pong balls in a plastic drum by any chance ??

Hmm not sure what that would sound like…doesnt sound like metal more like two big stones slowly grinding away. Why are noises a pain to describe !

Mine rattles and ‘chings’ like its about to fall out when its not under any drive. Its not a standard unit tho its a fidanza kevlar jobbie. I dont remember the standard one making any noises at all, just that it couldnt hold a toddler let alone 300bhp :stuck_out_tongue:

mine sounds like gravel in a tumble drier on coast down, always has done, it is just more pronounced when hot, it is also a lot louder since I removed all the carpets. I think it is just the meshing of the gears, they are designed to be quiet under load, plus also the placement of the gearbox is not the same as what the gearbox was designed for.

sounds good to me, cheers
