Stupidly busy period April, May & June but I’m starting to get more time to spend finishing the car.
Popped the splitter on first. I made a bespoke aluminium tray (to replace the OEM part that no longer fits) that will cover the bump canisters like my Reverie splitter used to. It still needs riveting to the chassis at the back, I’ll do it when the car is on some ramps.
My car is currently in bits waiting for me being able to afford my new front discs (next month) then back together ready for the MLOC trip to Chatsworth, just hope it is not raining as I will be bedding in new PF front pads
Don’t forget this will be a run on public roads, lads, keep the rapid driving antics to the track! I stopped doing “runs” with large groups some years ago because it was too easy (for me anyway!) to be encouraged to drive faster than was “sensible” just because I had an Exige. I distinctly remember one occasion shortly after fitting the Honda, when a couple of folks driving boggo Elises said “I thought you’d had a Honda conversion, is it down on power?”
See you at Chatsworth - really looking forward to a great day out
Cheers fella’s, it looks mega in this Satin Black paint job. I know it’ll be tough to keep clean and I will have an issue with stone chips but it’s only temporary, a very nice tempory though it is The quarter panels aren’t perfect and I’m planning on putting the OEM back on over Christmas after I’ve made modifications for them to fit like these but the job is pretty tidy overall. I do love the look of the GAV front end, however the mirrors are going nowhere buddy I know it’ll have added a fair few kilos and will most likely keep me over the 800kg mark I was looking to break but it’s a compromise, I’m happy with it.
I finished the interior today, it’s looks great and is bang on in keeping with the current colour scheme and the next for that matter. I also started to put the rear clam brackets on but only got so far. Lots on tomorrow so will have to wait until Monday.
Few issues, my repair work using P40 didn’t last long and the sill has its big crack back, wish I had of got that right before painting and used fibre glass paste ect… I’ll be needing a big f’ing sticker as I’d don’t plan to repair that until winter either, I’m bosting to get it on track. I also need to change the roof seals, they are covered in paint and on back order. I also had some issue’s starting it the other day, it started cold on high revs then once warm dropped off to a stall and wouldn’t start again. I tried three or four times after that and it wouldn’t quite catch, I’ll try again Monday.
The last few jobs will be replacing the mudflaps with some thick sheet PVC and fitting the number plate holder. I’ve designed it to take some bike lights that illuminate the plate, I get that Wednesday. Lastly the engine lid, it’s not perfect but overall it’s a uniform slightly odd fit, then again as are some SC engine lids I often see lol. A few other things but nothing major… That reminds me, I must call John Shorrocks!
It’s taxed, MOT runs out end of the month, that’s easy enough and insured. New tyres are waiting, to be fitted so not long now…It’s been two steps forwards one step back every step of the way, I’m looking forward to getting it done
That’s looking brilliant mate. I love the matt black paint, makes me want to change the scheme on mine (yes its still here), have you got any more soot left over from the fireplaces
IT LIVES!!! I went out for a very little drive and IT F*****G LIVES!!! YAY!!! I’d run out of petrol which is why it wouldn’t start and the battery had died, the dash isn’t showing fuel low, Stephen suggested fuel/battery…he was right It’s a lumpy grumpy little fecker, it’s bloody quick though, it’s a lot loud with the intake behind my head and it sounds mental on Cam (went to 7k only) a proper screamer. MEGA, I’m set full hard and so is my ARB
