N/A upgrading 2zzge to 2000cc

Hi,

I will race soon with my exige cup 2006 in Thailand.

I need to upgrade my engine to 2000cc in a NA mode (can not be super-turbo charge)

Where can I find the conversion kit? New cams, piston, new flywheel etc…

I will use Motec ECU.

I heard some guy who prepare celica gts up to 300hp in a 2000cc version NA.

What about my diferential, can I lock it less than the 30% original setup?

About the gear bow how can I improve without change it, our track here is small (2.1km) and slow.

How about the disc I would like to change them.

Cheers, Xavier

I think Monkey Wrench Racing in the US do a 2 litre upgrade.
Have a poke around on Elise Talk and you should get some pointers.

I know of one Elise 111R in the UK that’s recently had the 2 litre conversion, but I haven’t heard any feedback on it yet. Hangar 111 did the work.

Bet the 2Litre kit adds a nice chunk of torque

Any idea how the chappie in the UK has remapped the ecu?

Hi 1st off you will not get 300hp from an N/A unless things get silly! You might get 230hp which is very good for a 2lt.
For high HP you need to get high rpm so you will need to strengthen the internals to handle 9000-9500 rpm.
Most of the kits use a 1zzge crank which gives the extra capacity. This will make it more difficult to get the high hp. The larger capacity via the 1zzge crank helps torque not hp if you are racing you will want to get the engine built for high rpm etc.
I had looked at these - ForcedFed have good knowledge of these as they used it in their original FF400 (turbo application). I would contact them for details on increased displacement. Monkey Wrench Racing has an inconsistent rep and have not sold that many kits but they only increase displacement to 1900 or something. In Japan there is a 3zzge kit (have a search on EliseTalk with 3zzge) Although I have heard of a few blowing up!

Have a look here for a spec of a built engine

Some other info

I think to seriously contemplate getting 300BHP from a 2L engine you’ll need to switch to a Honda or Ford/Mazda I4, both these engines are square or slightly oversquare so the bores are at least 86mm which allows you decent amount of valve area. From then on you’re going to have to change every internal component and completely junk the whole EMS, and inlet system and start again. For a professionally built engine of this type you’ve got to be looking at well over 10K + conversion costs.

A few examples of undersquare race engines - Seat BTCC engine ~84mm Bore Audi lump - 260BHP, Caterham R500 Evo engine 82mm - 250BHP

For big power you need big bores, look at a Hart 420R or Cosworth BDx (never been fitted to an Exige). The closest I think you’ll get realistically is a modded S2000 lump.
