I bought an s2 exige(ill post up pics when i get some) on the weekend and am over the moon with it. I was wondering what temperatures yours usually run at when driving. Mine was around 85ish when running, But when i stopped(traffic jam) it creeped up to 95/96. I know it was absolutely boiling today, but i am new to the car and want to see what others do.
The fan did come on too, and the temp stabled, was quite surprised by the fan, are they all noisey?
Also, what temperature shud you be thinking about shutting it off and leaving it cool?
any help/guidence appreciated
That is normal - nothing to worry about. No need to stop.
Mine is stable at 85/86 pretty much 99% of the time. Not sure if this is down to the twin oil coolers as I think it was a little different in the 111R. In idle traffic it will climb to mid 90’s and then drop back to 85/86 within a minute of driving. Never had the fan kick in yet.
About the same for me too, my first worrying moment was when I washed the car and went out for a drive, after sitting in standing traffic for 15 minutes I starting to see steam coming from the open vents on the bonnet - quickly realised that it was steam from the water after I had washed the car.
I always thank my lucky stars when we both make it through a day with no problems (honest).
Mine runs about 88-90 normally, but in this weather and in stationary traffic, it can easily rise to 99. Think the fan kicks in at 101- can’t remember off hand. Yours sounds quite normal. Bear in mind the fan is only about 3/4 feet in front of you so you will hear it, and see the mother of all heat haze when it kicks in!!
