I think that might be my favourite S2 colour.
Why is the man in the second pic not looking at the car?!
In the fourth pic, are you trying to give the car the instant stone chipped look?!
Ian
Thanks ian. The chap in the picture is trying to dodge the huge amounts of dog cr@p as his brothers dogs seem to have a big problem and its everywhere. no the car picks up its own stone chips with out the aid of the raptor. just thought it was fun to get the toys in the same picture.
Yellow does look good, was nt sure at first but when i see it i know its the one. chrome orange looks great but too much for me.
Edward.
…No the car picks up its own stone chips with out the aid of the raptor…
Know what you mean, mines got a bucket load of small stone chips low down on the front of the rear wheel arches and only 950 miles ont clock.
John
John, you fitted mup flaps? Sounds silly put it stops the rear wheel arch stone chips on S1s. Do a search on ‘flap’ (going back a year or 2).
Essentailly, I cut a cheap rubber (very flexible) car mat to size, so it almost touches the ground, and attached them just behind the front wheels using mini bull-dog clips (then removed the the metal arms).
Let me know if you want pics.
Ian
I want…
What are bulldog clips?
Ok, sorry for the delay, I’ll get round to the pics.
This is what I meant by bulldog clips (I think they’re actually known as foldback clips):

That’s a great tip Ian, Was looking for a way to doi tmyself without making holes in the clam.
Cheers!
Here you go Uldis, and probably about time we showed this again for the people that have purchased since the last great design debate. They’re great for keeping stone chips down on the sides, cost almost nothing and don’t grate on the ground/speed bumps (because they’re very flexible and just drag).

I don’t think it looks too shabby. Certainly better than destroyed rear arches. Took me about 20 mins.

Enjoy!
Ian
don’t they flex at high speed?
don’t they flex at high speed?
He wouldn’t know!
Only kidding, of course
don’t they flex at high speed?
Yes, but as they are so long, virtually touching the ground, not enough to stop them deflecting stones, etc.
Here’s an example at about 60mph (sorry, a little trcky to see but the best I could find quickly).

Hey, I’m no slouch!
Ian.
Sorry for the delay, only just spotted your reply. The car comes with the mud flaps as standard but they don’t stick out very far, they do protect the underside of the sill somewhat as they are about 2 inches below the level of the sill. I think it’s something I’m just gonna have to live with or try fitting some larger one’s from an old Cortina, Lotus of course
John
If the longer ones are of the hard variety be a bit careful, as it can stop the car for rolling (as per one of my early designs, that I attached rather to well and I nearly ended up in a ditch as the car could hardly turn at speed! ).
Ian
Ian
These are the standard ones as fitted to the S2. [image]http://www.jayz3cee.btinternet.co.uk/mud_flap1.jpg[/image] [image]http://www.jayz3cee.btinternet.co.uk/mud_flap2.jpg[/image]
