My lady's new heart

So, I’m currently working in China and was planning to have my engine converted in a few years time. There was no hurry and I was still enjoying the car as it was. The good old K had lot of character. Enough power for now but always had that irritated feeling when trying to accelerate out of corners. The torque was just not there and K did

. A renovation of the engine would have brought some I guess but the Honda way had always been on my mind.

So suddenly an complete engine popped up here on site and the deal was pretty good. I was in China anyway so the Edwards could have a go right away. Al was finished in February and since then my brother sends me pic’s and vid’s to annoy the shit out of me…

Last Wednesday I finally arrived home. After an initial drive I realized she had already popped a drive shaft boot so got to source and install one of those. Did a few other jobs and now its ready for proper driving. Had a nice evening blast here on our nice B-roads. And OOOOOOOO MYYYYYY GOD , the transformation is amazing

The engine is less noisy inside the cabin, smooth, torquey in all revs and gears and has a very nice mature exhaust sound to it. You can cruise in any gear with ease and comfort. And if you wanna play you press the throttle and she goes nutts, the supercharger starts whining and you are hit in the back by a raging bull. Before you know it you are doing mach 3. Really, the violence released is a tad much for me to handle at the moment. Need to plan a few Abbeville track days to master that.

So, Mr Bean, I understand you perfectly wanting to stay with the K and I hope your/my old engine will do a good job in your car. The character it had is quite amazing and definitely lost with the Honda. On the other hand the Honda gave me the long awaited low end torque and made the car a better all rounder. And it has a different character

Handling is not to bad on the standard springs and shocks. Sure, it moves around slightly more at the rear axle but it did that with the K as well. So next step will be a slightly stiffer spring in the rear and some new shocks. I still can’t believe the spring rates some suggest to install.

So car is now ready for a weekend trip to the ring, mostly to meet and show a Chinese friend of mine around in his rental car  but I’m sure the Exige will do some laps as well. I’m looking forward to the drive.

Have fun out there this summer.

:sunglasses: That’s good news…enjoy

Someone else to hammer past us on the straights at track days

Only joking have a good trip to the ring

SOunds good!!

Back from ring trip.

Likes

Power is great. Easy to keep up with other cars now and back side ring climb is now fun.
Handling is still great. Standard chassis is good and stable enough. Vehicle still very agile.
Kumho’s performing great to, also in the rain.

Dislikes

Very strong pitching motion on Autobahn. Stiffer rear spring will sort that.
Soft rear also shortened my diffuser a bit on the ring
Vibrations at idle
Low six gear was a disappointment. Engine doing 3500rpm at 130kph is a lot. So fuel consumption and noise level suck. To bad.

Fuel consumption on my way there and back:

~30 miles/gallon
~9.5 liters /100km
~10.5 km/liter

Its not all about stiff springs!!!

My NA car does 4000rpm at 130kph (80mph) so its better than standard.
