My K is kangarooing

Following on from my “Low RPM at idle” post, I wound the throttle stop screw a bit to increase the revs - this worked for a short while but the same symptom came back with additional kangaroo effect at low rpm / low speed / light throttle.

Last night I had enough - so I plugged in the laptop into the emerald, recalibrated the TPS sensor and went for a drive to data log what went on.

Well the following screen shots show TPS, RPM and IGN advance bouncing around.

I have the full 15 minute log (622Kb)if anyone is interested.

Apart from changing all potential sensors (TPS, coilpack, plugs, leads, rear wheel speed sensor, O2) is there any way of narrowing it down first ?

Any advice is more than welcome.

Just one other thing on a positive note - recalibrating the TPS and re-programming the ECU (I lowered hard/soft rev limits by 100 rpm) has bought back my pops and bangs on the overrun

Cheers
Toby

Toby,
If that data log was from driving down the road shifting thru the gears, the TPS data looks suspect to me unless you were really taking it easy on it. You bearly ever see above 10% and the values are erratic.

Yeah, change the throttle pot. My old Caterham ate a couple.

Ok, where’s the best place to get a TPS from ? I presume its from another car and now unique to a K’d Exige S1 ?

If any one has one they don’t mind flogging I will be down at Castle Combe on Sunday for the Lotus on Track race meeting
