My Exige so far

I covered just over 1000 miles in my Exige before I returned to Iraq. I just could not keep out the car, as it is just so much fun to drive. Took It down the lakes, had the roads mostly to myself on a Saturday evening, so really had a chance to push on safely. The grip levels are phenomenal, and do sup pass the Elise SC I had. Only negative about handling and grip, is the turn in does not appear as good as my Elise. I was thinking Its down to the wider tyre on the Exige. Don’t get me wrong, steering feel is fantastic, but I just felt it was more precise in the Elise.
My main reason for Posting is advice. The rattles in this car are very frustrating. Firstly the biggie was the seats, now have Tillet which has been a great improvement, as they do not squeak or rattle.
I also have several from the engine bay, not had time to explore as I was too busy enjoying the car, despite the rattles.lol. I also have one in the centre of the dash, can anyone shed any light on a potential cause of this. I will be going over the car with a fine toothcombe next time I get back, will be removing both clams, and anything else needed to sort as many rattles as possible.
i know its a characteristic of these cars, and I will be prepared to live with it, as the enjoyment really does outweigh the rattles.lol.

Is It an easy job to remove the dash, as well as removing for rattles, i quite fancy getting the dash recovered in Alacantara.
How do you guys feel about the steering feel and turn in on your Exige? Has anyone experienced poor feedback and had it sorted with a Geo set up?

Anyway, apologise for all the questions.

Welcome, and glad you are enjoying the car.

Removing the dash is pretty straightforward. Instructions are in the tech wiki on Seloc: Remove S2 Dash Top - TechWiki

And for the steering, would definitely suggest getting the geo checked. With the right setup you ushould have no complaints

Glad you are enjoying your car Kev.
Turn in should not be a problem get it geo’d and have the shims removed.
As for rattles, these come with the car I am afraid. Heat shield around the cat, under trays, pipes running inside the sills usually the oil cooler ones and check the exhaust clamps are tight these are prone to loosen and let the exhaust turn.
The 260 kit is ace and transforms the car. you won’t believe what a difference 20 hp makes ( they usually produce more )

Welcome!

Coming from an Elise to an Exige as I also did, the first thing I noticed was that the front end didn’t feel as planted as the Elise. As suggested, a good Geo will probably sort it. You might also want to look at the age of your front tyres - not on common for them to be on for 2-3 times as long as the rears and therefore passed their best. Drop the pressures down a little as well perhaps.

As for rattles! See my post on the matter…you’ll generally find yourself chasing one, curing it, creating another, chasing it, etc etc

Thanks for the Welcomes and response, much appreciated. Lotus really gets a grip of you. I sold the Elise as a stop gap, get our new house then buy another lotus. I had no intention of buying so soon. Bought a Honda FD2 not long after the Elise, then an S2000 just before I bought the Exige. I was so underwhelmed by the S2000. Great car in Its own right, but quite frankly not in the same class as the Lotus. When I saw my 240S I had to have It. It was put on for sale early am, and I had a deposit down by early afternoon.
Glad on so many levels I chose the Exige over an Elise again. The Elise was an amazing car, loved every minute of it, but not being able to increase the power output was a negative.
I have heard good reports about the 260 increase. The car is pretty manic just now top end of the rev range, so hard to imagine how much more it will actually pull.lol
I see some opt for the Lighter Flywheel. I know it is not necessary, but I like the idea of it to be honest. Anyone done It on here and thought to be a worthwhile addition?
That’s a good one on the tyres actually, Think they have been on from new, so something I will certainly look at. I just feel the turn in could be better. It actually had a Geo adjustment before my purchase by Ade the previous owner. I am unsure of the exact settings. But I will hopefully pick up some Settings from on here or Seloc, and go from there.

Can you explain what Shims need to be removed? Never read about this, so all new to me?

Thanks for the heads up with Techiwiki, I will have a look. My plan is to have the full interior Alacantara. It came with the touring pack, and Non harness hole seats. I am actually advertising my seats on Seloc. Had a buyer who left a deposit and has disappeared of the face of the earth.
So yeah, just need to find a suitable establishment that will do the business on my interior.
My goal is to achieve some of the 260 cup spec. There are things on the 260 cup that I do not like. Love the car, but more than happy with mine and adding the parts I want.
So It should be a sorted capable car by time I am finished, that is If Iraq don’t go radio rental and I loose my job, you may see a for sale sign If that occurs.lol.
Rattles, yep I thought It was something I was potentially going to have to live with. My Elise had a couple of slight ones, but not in the same league as this Exige!
Anyway, off for some more reading, cheers again.

between the steering arms and the hub. Usually you can’t make the camber too aggressive by removing them but you want R=L so probably best just to save it all for the same time as the geo

Cheers buddy.
