It’s going great, although Lotus are still trying to work out what the flat spot is when you hit the throttle. Not too concerned as it will be an easy fix, and warranty is paying.
It’s odd actually. The dealers have direct contact with Lotus technical and you get the feeling that its a lot more personal if you have a problem. They also regularly bring out ECU map revisions which you can pop in and get uploaded - I find this rather exciting
Mods planned are that I’m going to get the gearshift tunnel coated in leather. Chapman would turn in his grave! I’m sure it doesn’t weigh much, plus mine is the Sport pack so prob weighs a few g less anyway.
For the hell of it I’m thinking about the AP4 pot setup which is on the new Performance Pack. The standard AP2 pot brakes are pretty monster anyway, but hey!
I’d like the forged ultra light weight alloys from the new Exige S but that’s not a priority.
Also going to get normal seat belts fitted along side the harnesses. Harnesses are great, but once strapped in you can’t reach the door to close it, or lean to see out the windows
A lot of people are upgrading to Nitron’s but I don’t feel I need those yet, until I can really drive the car. It’s much better than I am anyway and the Billies are a great compromise.
I’d say it’s quicker and more capable than the 400 bhp Evo I had!
Ok yea mate sounds good, car’s off the road having a load of stuff replaced but mid late June is better for me, I have my industry show 6-10th. As soon as I’m sorted I PM you with some dates buddy.
The main thing I think about the Evo / STi versus the Exige is that i’d much rather travel to the Ring or Spa in a saloon, but when I got there i’d much rather be in the Exige!
Guess what i’m saying is I find the Exige a bit much on a long journey. The seats are great and you can sit in them for hours, and I love every minute of driving it, but it is noisy. I wore earlugs all the way to and from Donny the other week I’ts fine at 70 and below, but above 80 you can’t hear your passenger speaking, and your ears start ringing when you get out
But the sacrifice is worht it. It’s so much more fun to drive and does require a lot of input. I was never one to believe that Evo’s and STi’s are totally point and click machines, but RWD is a lot more rewarding.
I’m probably going to get a MY98/99 STi to use as a daily car, just because I don’t like leaving the Exige anywhere out of my sight.
Re the MPG, it’s pretty bloody good! I belted upto Donny at between 80-90 where I could, and was getting 280-300 miles from a 38 fill up of the good stuff. Clearly the weight counts for a lot. It has a small tank. Can’t fault it really! MPG on track is as you would expect though
