My Alternator

My Alternator has decided to melt was driving around last night looking for petrol when I noticed smoke coming from the engine bay, pulled over and switched off with extinguisher at the ready. From the look of it the alternator has burned its self out. Reading past threads this looks like a common prob.

My question is how easy is it to replace the Alternator myself? Is it a clam off job? If so would it be worth while upgrading my top engine mount?

Any help would be great

Thanks

You will be able to access the alternator by removing the wheelarch liner ie no need to take the clam off.

Thanks Peskey

I am going to be a coward. I just called MSC they want 80 labour to change it.

Thanks Anyway

Bite their hand off! It can be a pig of a job (especially if you have A/c). Make sure they get you a recon Alt, not a new one, much cheaper!
