Now I know I can sometimes be accused of dawdling, and not using my car as it was intended, but during a grotty day over Christmas, I calculated my MPG based upon a European Tour taken in 2011.
I was pleasantly surprised:
The tour was getting on for 2000 miles, including thrashing up and down various Alpine passes, some motorway, some waiting around for Pesky, and a few laps of Spa and Nurburgring GP.
Average: 34.5mpg

Nice one Steve, fantastic result, & you certainly weren’t dawdling either!
There was indeed a lot of waiting around for me - I’m not as brave as you lot when it comes to overtaking on the road, & being the last of 4 cars makes it difficult to catch up if we get split up I still had a fabulous time driving, & I’m now thick skinned enough to repel the pi$$taking from you whippersnappers

Agree with that - always think in a convoy the fastest person should be tail end charlie

I’m actually very happy these days, to be at the back of a convoy. I usually don’t have much choice, as my car is apparently easy for the guys in front to spot
I’m with you on that.
Age = responsibility = lack of bottle = realisation of our own mortality = gets coat as I’m dragging on
I was as surprised to be termed a “whipper-snapper” as being “brave” in overtaking.
I doubt Rob puts more than a couple of years over me
Whilst I might have made the odd move that I later looked back on as being risky, I dont feel I am any braver in overtaking than the next man, and dont feel we left Rob behind.
I had clearly let him past here:
But a hour or two later saw him exhausted after taking up that position:
Well, I cant see you in this picture, must have left you well behind
