MPG improve with age?

I’m getting <21mpg at the mo, on my standard Exige S.

Admitedly mainly short journeys (3 mile commute), interspersed with a few countryside blats.

Only got 600 miles on the clock so hoping it will loosen up.

The petrol itself isn’t the issue, more the PITA of going to the petrol station every five minutes

a 3 mile commute will kill your car

it will heat up, condensation will form then you turn it off before it gets to temp.

expext low mpg but worst, rust on any engine or exhaust parts due to condensation forming.

Mygrandad does this to his car and his exhaust system lasted 6 months

get on your bike for 3 miles ffs

You are Norman Tebbit, & I claim my 5

As Mr D says that 3 mile stuff is a killer. I got 34mpg when running in but was always doing long runs to get the miles done quickly.

Even now the difference between a number of short trips (even 30 miles) and one long run emptying a tank makes a big difference.

My commute is only about 3 miles. As I know this would be bad for my car, I just drive straight past work and do an extra 5 miles or more to make sure it’s warmed up a bit before driving back to work. It’s more fun that way

Im getting hopeless mpgs… I cant remember the last time i got more than 180 miles to a tank!

With the SC my car (use to ) give ok milagebest I saw was 220-230 before I think I got 250. Where I really noticed it was on track a half-day on track would use up a tank easy! I was always running on fumes by the time I got to a petrol station. Resorted to taking a couple of jerry cans but at a full trackday could use 65-75 litres easy. Thursty work I guess!

My commute to my old office in the centre of York was 26 miles via the A1 & A64 - but I never used to go that route. Frequently, I would end up doing between 50 and 60 miles along the B roads.

Might have been late for work on a number of occasions but always had a smile on my face

Autoroute is an Exige’s friend if you set the options to dislike for all M ways and major A roads

Well I keep getting older, and my mpg doesn’t ever seem to improve. maybe I’m on the wrong octane beer

Funny you should mention that !

I am a keen cyclist, but the combination of new toy (Exige) and a current office move which sees me constantly nipping backward and forward between two sites, have seen the bike mothballed temporarily.

Thing is the bike takes less time than the car, and our new office is more central to town, so this is only going to exagerate this. Fortunately the new office is going to have shower facilities, so even less reason to take the car.

I do need to get my bike serviced though so that’s 100 down the drain, but I’ll soon recoup that in petrol costs

LOL

100 to service a push bike!

Are you kidding?

Nope :open_mouth:

Needs new seals on the front and back suspension, brake oil change amd new pads.

If I don’t get a dealer stamp frame warranty is void, and at 2k for a replacement frame it’s sort of worth it.

Great bit of kit mind. Even for a full suspension mountain bike, I managed to do 100 miles on one ride!

My god!!

Anyone worrying about how much petrol they are using should go buy themselves a 500cc single piston deisel Ligier and return 150 mpg!!

Surely with cars like this petrol comsumtion is irrelevant?? if you are actively wacth in gthe clock then where is the fun??

A Peugeot Deisel will be your friend!!

Like the one you have?
