Well my car is now only a track car that is driven back and forth to days, so it got me thinking, is it time to put it back to something resembling a standard car and chop it in for a 2-11?
Then bolt on all the bits from my old car to the 2-11? The downsides I see are.
Getting cold wet and bored driving to and from trackdays.
The cost to change is north of 10k
It is very tempting and a charge cooled one with 300hp (by the time I’ve fnished) would be even more so, it is a fine weather car there is no doubt and I don’t have room for a trailer sadly. I will keep this idea in my pocket, maybe if there prices drop a bit more or our new climate sticks around longer

Other thoughts? [/quote]
Ade, I had been in the exact same situation. I used to own an Elise which I eventually only drove on the track. I figured, instead of taking everything out of my Elise to make it lighter (see my website here), and hence making the Elise really uncomfortable for the occasional Sunday detour, I could as well get the real thing, the 2-11.
I initially also had thoughts about whether I would regret my decision afterwards, since I loved my Elise TO BITS (also considering all the money I had put into it to mod it just the way I wanted it), but now I can honestly say, that I don’t regret it at all!! On the contrary, best “car-related” decision ever! lol
If you like track days as much as I do, then the 2-11 is absolutely the right toy for you.
Re the “getting wet” arguments etc, I can say this, I never drove my Elise in the Rain either. I always avoided rainy days. It’s no fun driving on slippery surface anyway…
And if you worry about getting cold, you won’t, just wear functional clothes like I do, on colder days, and you’re perfectly cosy
