Plus points:
Extra ventilation makes a big difference to cabin temperature in summer. With the standard engine cover, the glass window in the rear bulkhead used to get really hot. It was like a big radiator just behind your head.
It’s lighter.
It looks cool. A pretty unique look for a road car.
Negatives:
Buggers up the rear visibility. I got used to that, but some people really won’t like it.
Lets water into the ‘boot’ unless you get creative with ducts to redirect the water into the engine bay. This is what I did, quite successfully. I was pleased to see that the S2 has a pretty similar design to what I did.
It’s a bit flimsy, so it needs extra panel clips at the top edge to hold it down. Less practical than the standard cover.
What is the secret to stop water getting in the boot if you’ve got one of these then ?
I made a pair of firbreglass ducts to direct the water from the lower vents into the engine bay. Not the work of a moment but if you’re either skilled at making stuff, or quite patient (I fall into the latter category ), it’s not too difficult to do.

Depends. You can use the standard hinge and release mechanism, but you’d probably need to add quick-release clips to hold the front corners down, or you can go fully quick-release.
