hi could someone please post a couple of pics on here
of how they have fastened the motorsport cover onto the original Exige hinge and where the hinge fixes to the roof. thanks
each mad his own fastened cover
It is one of the jobs for me this winter, to make the motorsport cover open with the original hinge.
For sure it needs a small bar at the top to prevent the top corners to flap up or start to rattle. Maybe I can use that same bar to attach the hinge to. This coming winter…
Emiel, can you make 2 please?!?
Regards,
Kurt
If I am really happy, I might. Otherwise I will show enough photo’s to remake it.
A view on how to fit a Motorsport cover to an original car would be great.
We had a little discussion over on MLOC

My idea is to make a aluminium strip that goes across the front from left to right with a larger plate in the middle that is not touchting the cover. That will be used to mount it to the original hinge. That will keep the outsides down and will make it possible to mount it without any bolts showing outside.
Winter is coming… just need to get a wall down in the garage and isolate it further. Never enough space in a garage
This sounds interesting Emiel, any chance you can put up drawing or diagram to show what you intend doing, it would help me to decide on how to do mine. I think I know what you mean, but a diagram would really help.
thanks
any update on this as I am keen to change to motorsport cover as long as i can use the original hinge.
please send me the old original one when you take it off …you know it needs to come home!!
Have fun
The car been excellent in the last five years and the cover will stay in Hong Kong as I m changing to motorsport cover for the track day in China
Also Clive, do you mind to share the photos of your hinges secured on you motorsport cover? cheers Sam
try this Sam it seems to be a standard Hinge with a 5mm approx spacer between hinge and cover.
This cover is very flimsy and moves about a bit also does not like being trailered backwards …it gets very nervous…almost as much as I do.
Thanks Clive, it seems like just bonded on, also the bottom is also using original catch? I keep being told different things that some told me I also need fasteners to hold the corner down as it doesn’t line up properly if I don’t use any fastners. But I can’t see you are using anything extra except the original fasteners?
Origina fasrener on mine . Much depends on the rigidity of the cover …
Have you bought one yet? If not ask the supplier for advice.
My humble advice would ne keep it original …unless your ambient temps are huge I doubt you need it to allow additional cooling.
Whatever HAVE FUN
Cheers
