evening all, newbie here. ‘big’ jonnyfox insisted i should get on and say hi! “hi”
just bought a new exige 260 RGB, running her in at the mo…awaiting new manifold, and exhaust system from Jim.
I’m 14.5st and the standard seats are very uncomfortable (no padding at sides). I saw a thread that wesj111 had fitted motordrive seats, are they any good? whilst i will be doing the odd track day (including Spa in Aug), i want to use the car on the road too, so comfort is important. thanks for any steers. looking forward to meeting you all at the track.
not quite worked out how to upload pics yet, LOL, will do when I’ve sussed it!
She’s in white. Very pretty, running her in nice and gentle before she gets raped proper on the track! lol
I have a need for speed, I would buy a USAF F22 Raptor, but it won’t go in the garage and its a touch expensive, coupled with a dodgy back, some reliability issues with my previous car, the Exige S 260 RGB was next on my list.
I’m very impressed with the Motordrive seats, they’re far more supportive than standard seats and suprisingly comfy.
I must say that fitting them is not a stroll in the park. Unlike many types that are lotus specific these did need a fair amount of trimming of the shell to squeeze them in the tight space. The plus side of this of course is that you maximise the useable seat width. Two key things were needed to fit them in, the removal of the centre trim over the handbrake and gear lever and the removal of some material from the gear turret frame. For those reasons you may not want to go that way in a new car.
Which seats are fitted in yours? The 260 seats seem to have a bit more support than standard ones.
Welcome Matt.
14.5st? You’re a bit of a lightweight in my book.
By all means look at other seats , but I think the OEMs are pretty fit for purpose. You ain’t going to get your armchair and slippers in.
Hope to see you on track
I cannot find a seat that gives more padding without you having width issues. Did the CSR seat fit you ok? MOG seats aren’t padded but they are comfy and they do a 40mm wider size. Try mine at Donny…lol if you can fit in.
Had a Sprint with the same probax seats and they were uncomfortable, I have ‘standard’ seats in the new one and they are better, insomuch as they as a little more padding;-
Hi - thanks for that, I did hear you needed to do some mods. Are they cushioned? they do different sizes don’t they, what was yours? I appreciate your help. Thanks Matt
Thanks Ade, will do. Big Jonnyfox has invited me up to polish his car on the 5th March. I intend to take my ol’ girl out on the 22nd March, so yes, great idea, I’ll do that. thanks
