Sad news. I’m sorry for those involved
This is interesting, though:
"The car-maker also revealed its new flagship super-car which will replace the Esprit will be delayed by more than a year and will now be unveiled in December 2009.
But the company has announced plans for two other new models, a mid-range four-seater Lotus, which will be launched in December 2008 and a high performance variant of a Proton car which is due to be unveiled in May 2008."
Seems strange for the Esprit to be delayed while a new 4 seater is rushed in
That is sad news. I don’t suppose I’ll see any disheartend faces when I’m there this weekend.
It may be a bit seasonal other than the USA sales, at least the long term plans look better

I read that as spin - the Esprit is delayed so they have had to find something else to plug a gap for a period of time…
Why don’t they just plug the gap with the Esprit replacement???
It is obviously going to be a four seater Europa S2 with removable roof and a diesel engine!!!
David
If the problem in US sales then I can’t see how a 4 seater is going to plug any gaps. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t release a supercharged elise if that’s their target market.
