Monte Carlo Rally (100 years old)

Follow this year’s event on Eurosport :sunglasses:

If only I could afford satellite, sniff, sob  … Sad to see that the WRC has also sold out to dish telly on ESPN. Looks like it’s F1 for me and Coronation Street!

Great to see Francois Delecor back on stage for the Monte, he’s not doing bad for an old boy either. There’s hope for you yet Pesky!

When does the WRC restart?

By co-incidence I had the wife “buy” me this for Christmas:

A fascinating read, well recommended, has a write up of every year to 1980 including maps of routes etc.
In the early days, there were extra points for furthest travelled, hats off to those in the 1920s who drove over 2000 miles from places like North Africa and Latvia

As you might expect, it has got me thinkng about a trip in the Exige to “sample” some of the roads used in the South of France

Anyone one here remember the first event?

Yep, won by Jean-Yves Clouseau on a Panhard et Levassor

C’est vrai, mon ami.

Just another Sunday drive…

Absolute classic event. Most of the top drivers took intermediate slicks for stage 7 and laughed at Delecour with full studded tyres on dry Tarmac…then It snowed… a lot.

That’s down to driver training
