This one relates to aftermarket SC options for the S2 Exige.
I have done some reading and know of the different options in terms of companies that provide these solutions and the products they use.
The questions I have are:
a. How reliable are these solutions when it comes to doing track time? ie. will they take lap after lap of pounding or will I be getting to know the track day mechanic well? I have little technical ability beyond changing brake pads.
b. What are the other essential upgrades one would need to consider apart from brakes and suspension?
c. I understand the gear box is a weak point. Any solutions? I have seen the thread about it but wasn’t sure of what people’s conclusions were.
d. How does having an aftermarket SC affect resale value?
I appreciate a lot of my questions have been asked before but couldn’t find answers and would really appreciate input from owners of such cars or people who have driven them.
Well you can forget about resale once you start modifying, your best bet is to find a car with all the crap done already and save yourself the headache and money…
The aftermarket bits are te same as the OEM…
a. Very reliable still, my friends that go to track days with me can’t believe I rag the Exige round all day then drive it home again, they seem to be pampering and fiddling all day, then triler their cars home again.
b. Harnesses and driver training
c. Gearboxes are only problamatic on 300hp+ cars or with hamfisted people in 211s as for fixes we will see how mine is when the upgrade is finished in about a month
d. you are unlikely to get more for your car with it, so don’t expect to, just like just about every other mod it makes little difference in value
Above all you will love it if you get one and like so many on here hope never to have to sell them
Hi, I’ve seen that advert. The price is good but doesn’t the Touring pack not have the twin oil coolers and seats with harness holes?
How about thiscar? Going by the above logic this car should be cheaper, non?
Twin oil coolers are standard for the Exige S. The touring pack doesn’t have the harness slots in the seats or harness bar, you need the sports pack for this.
The option packs available for the 2006 cars were touring pack, super touring pack, sports pack and super sports pack - the touring and sports packs could also be combined.
Mine is not aftermarket mine was originally a standard S, however most of the SC conversions use the same MP62 SC some with A/A IC some with A/W IC and differing boost levels therfore power.
The Sinc’s SC comes with or without charge cooling, without it can produce 240/250bhp with up to 300bhp or more.
I have had mine now for about 7 months and I’m total happy with it, its true what they say though it doesn’t matter how much power you have you always want more.
Is it me or is the Silver KT car bloody good VFM that kit alone is what 5k? No problems there, great value really!
My point with the black exige is that it is a good base to start, maybe learn and taylor make to you’re own taste. Also, that car is well known and well kept by a well known owner on another good forum. It’ll take investment of which you’ll lose out but hey …there’s always the silver KT.

The silver exige looks superb value for money!! Defiantly worth a look.
I’ve had Sinclaires (now Essex Autosport) katana kit fitted for over 25,000 miles (2+ years) and its been fine. Thats on an engine thats done 76,000 miles total. Only thing I’ve needed to replace is the supercharger belt which last ~18 months. It still pulls hard to the limiter and is pretty quick relative to an Exige S 240 and other variants.
As well as the kit you’ll need an uprated Clutch, brake pads and toe links if your tracking it. Keep it well maintained and you’ll be fine. Having a supercharger actually stops you rev’ing the nuts out of the car and staying on cam which can obviously lead to miss-shifting and over-revving the engine.
