Nope … Spot the likeness …

Following the Leyland Motor Company’s (Standard-Triumph) merger with Rover in 1966, Spen moved over to Canley to ready the Triumph Stag for production. Although he famously continued development of Triumph’s troublesome V8 in favour of just using the ex-Buick engine, he was vindicated in that decision, famously saying, ‘I was told that they tried to put it in and you could not put it in and I believed them. I probably shouldnt have believed it, but in any case, there were big investments, which had been recently made in both companies for making V8 engines.’

He added that the Triumph V8 wasn’t really the issue at all, a fact that has certainly been backed up in recent years, as specialists have got to grips making it work properly. ‘No, a lot of trouble was they were made wrong, Im afraid,’ he said.

I was parachuted in to a company as part of a turnaround team in the 80’s .They did a do a lot of work for BL & Unipart.

I found a huge warehouse owned by the company that was full of engines , all crated , and waxed, for long term storage. I’m talking at least 500 engines, which upon investigation were Triumph Stag engines & gearboxes. The companies books showed these were being stored for free. I contacted Unipart and said there would be a storage charge in the future.

This elicited a call from John Neil, MD of Unipart, who said he didn’t know that we had them , he didn’t want them , and didn’t want to rent the space . So he arranged for them to be collected by a scrap man , who apparently signed up to crush them all

No wonder BL went bust!!!

Why don't I like Honda K20's - Page 12 - Scottish Elises

He’s now caused the MLOC thread to be closed :frowning: He never, ever friggin learns just to let his engines do the talking, & can never resist condemning everything else that he has not been involved with/developed. What a tortured soul, & how very sad.

I suppose thats what makes him good with a chistle and some wood…

What an amazingly belligerent man. Why does he push so hard?? I can see why he’s been banned from successive forums now!

Lol … at least I sometimes know when I’m beat …
Peace all x

I found the whole thing fascinating tbh and it was kind of funny when Scuffers popped up.

I assume Scuffers and King K have previous???

Indeed - both banned from here & Seloc to name but two! Real shame, both have a lot of helpful technical stuff to apart, but just can’t resist a heated slanging match.

Cool forum Exiges,com …
Sort of self regulates given time , glad the mods let threads mostly run uninterrupted ,I can’t be doing with forums that constantly get moderated unnessesarily…

It’s very rare for a thread to be closed on MLOC. Scuffers popping up made me smile as well.

He must have been tipped off by someone. Scuffers and King K both have a massive amount of knowledge to impart. Shame about the delivery occasionally.

Unfortunately, despite being told many many times, KingK doesn’t seem to realise that the best possible advert he could have for the K series motor would be to have lots of them out there actually proving his work for him…

He wouldn’t have to try and continually defend his actions and attempt to put down all other routes to powerful and reliable Lotus’ then.

Years go by and he’s spouting the same old things - whilst in that time people and cars (some Honda/Audi/Duratec powered) have been out enjoying themselves on track.
