MLOC Chatsworth 27th July

Looks like inboard CV on its way out. I nursed it there yesterday and had a very pleasant evening with Jonny and te MLOc guys. Gonna chance it today.

My Missus was quite happy with me using no throttle and no more than 3000rpm. Shame as there’s some great roads around here…

PMSL but I know he’s telling the truth!

Have a good one, weather should be okay
I’m coming off a night so need some zzz’s.

You would simply need to lay his coffin sideways along the seat. I doubt he would complain either :stuck_out_tongue:

PMSL!

You’re up early for a Sunday!!!

Another good good day, great seeing everyone. DeanB and helpers over on MLOC should be rightly proud of themselves for putting together a terrific bash at Chatsworth, not to mention the pre meet last night at the Deveonshire and coffee’s this morning at Hassop. Ben’s car got lots of attention last night and DrH’s 340R won car of the day. I did like ChrisH’s Evora not to mention that handy looking Excel and countless lovely looking Elans, Elise’s and Esprit’s. Our row of S1 Exige’s looked particulally cool parked in a line. Q the pictures Rob & Ben…but in the meantime…

A great day all round. So glad I persuaded Mrs T to come: she declared that she had a lovely time and that was before she bought the £65 Chatsworth woollen throw ( looked like a blanket to me).
Fabulous display of cars, especially exiges, com, and a great effort by the MLOC crew.
Great to meet with Pierre, the Incredible Husk(look it up, rice husk.com)

How do you do that?

What?

Edit, you mean the special filter  special lens lol.

Great to meet more of the exiges gang  :sunglasses:

Fun day out and no doubt the S1 Exige is still the king of the lot.

DrH’s car looked like it was in shock and nervous being outside
Worthy winner.

I had a fun time getting lost finding Hassop, and the drive back to Robs place following him certainly showed there are lots of nice roads in this part of the UK.

Fingers crossed now for Jim to deliver me some 2bular specialties for install on Tuesday before I return to Budapest!

Bens car does look mega. What I really enjoyed seeing on several of the Exiges though was lots of stone chips and worn sills - cars used and enjoyed!! :sunglasses:

Used, chipped and enjoyed,eh Ben?
You told us 2014 was the year to use it.
Nice to see you and Mrs Benja north of Anglesey. Lake District next?

Just a footnote to our day out at the Cavendish family’s charming little home, Chatsworth. We all puzzled over the motto chiseled into the stone at roof level. CAVENDO TVTVS. As we thought TVTVS equates to Tutus

My research reveals: Cavendo tutus, Safe through caution

Just like my track day driving!

How did the Cavendish’s make their dosh? It could explain the motto?

Edit

Filthy stinking rich, especially when you start naming your kids Peregrine

Great weekend! Will post more later…

I think they have more humble beginnings, the current duke is called Stoker.
Presumably an ancestor worked below decks on a steamer!

Euphemism Thommo? Do the gentry stoop so low.

Excellent to see you all at Chatsworth together with your much better halves

Great day out and such a fine turn out in an awesome setting…well done MLOC for organising

The grand ol’ duke and duchess own most of Bournemouth too inc the beach huts

Good selection of photos here

My missus set off first with the kids in the bus whilst I locked up and got the Exige going. When I caught up with them on the M25 I treated them to maximum attack flypast :sunglasses:…but the vibration at the top-end I’d first noticed at Bedford was back. By the time we arrived it was clear all was not well and any moderate application of drive caused severe vibration :unamused:

We stayed about an hour and a bit from Chatsworth at a beautiful old pile run as a Guest House. Well it was billed as a Guest House but was more like an old-people’s home  Anyways, amazingly by limping it along I managed to get it to Chatsworth and back twice and the all way the to Matt Bentley Racing in Kimbolton,…about 250miles. It looks to be the inboard tripod joint, yup the Honda conversion Archilles’ Heel. Its the first time I’ve had one go so I’ve had a good run. Anyways its in good hands now,…just need to resist the temptation to have one of those ‘while you’ve got the car Matt’ conversations

Well done Dean and the MLOC crew for a fantastic meet. Saturday night was great, and with as Jonny said; with the car outside the pub it certainly got lots of attention. Nice to meet lots of new Lotus guys and Jonny’s missus of course. Sunday really was quite a spectacle. Leigh’s (DrH) 340R was a really deserved win for car of the day, it really was a stand out vehicle. Nice to actually meet Leigh too after he supplied the inlet for my car :

The brace of Exiges really was an exceptionally fine sight :

We were right on the end so as people wandered down to the show the Exiges were the first thing you saw

My bling black/white/gold engine bay bling seemed to go down well. It still looks pretty white and blingy considering its been out and about quite a bit this year. Well it is 2014, the year of ‘Use It’! I’d love to get up to the Lakes in it Steve, my missus after her significant hiatus was very keen to do something exactly like that. She might change her mind once the car is back fighting-fit again,…pootling about keeping it at 1/8 thottle max and 2500-3000rpm gave her a bit of a false impression

Chatsworth and the general area around the Peaks was glorious. We were quite taken with the area.

By the time we’d wandered around the garden (and the bleedin’ gift shop of course!) most of the guys had departed and my car was sitting on its own looking especially awesome.

Great event, great cars and as per usual great to see all the exiges.com guys and especially nice to see some of the girls too. My missus commented at how much positive attention the car gets. At the meet, at the Old People’s Home, at the petrol station, parked up in a village…people just wanted to come and talk to us about the car :sunglasses:

Thanks Dean and the crew, a great event. I’ll try and rally some more of you Southerners for a bigger showing next year.
