Are there any issues with running Yoko 48’s on the front and Toyo 888’s on the rear?
Toyo’s are GG compound, Yokos are “LTS”.
Use is almost totally road (with the very rare excursion on track)
Hoping they’ll be OK as the 48’s still have plenty of life in them but my rears were trashed.
The Yoko’s seem to be recommended here and were in stock with Camskill.
this is how i have run my car for the last and i actually prefer the set up.
i found the 48’s on the back gripped amazingly but then let go with little or no warning, were as the 888’s are a bit less grippy, but not much, but have a small degree of “slip” which allows you to back off a little near the limit.
48’s on the front arent dead yet, but i will proberbly replace with 888’s to remove the lovely wheel wobble at 70 on the motorway the 48’s give. and will see if i can feel any lack of grip at front on next TD, although as im no driving god, i reckon not
I’ve always thought it best (and have been advised on here) not to mix tyres.
A048s on the front drove me round the bend, so its 888s front & rear for me now
We would all be in trouble if fronts didnt drive us round the bend!

I was waiting for that! Aren’t we supposed to use the rears for steering?

Good answer!
The 888’s arrived to day and I managed to get them fitted this morning.
Initial impressions are good. they seem to work nicely with the 48 fronts.
Despite being very new, (in my experience from using them on caterhams, they will only get better over the first 2-300 miles) they seem to have good levels of grip and when pushed, seem quite progressive. The turn in seems as sharp as ever.
I’ll put a few miles on them over the next week or two and report back
