Mismatched tyres - which to replace!

I bought my S2 Exige a few months back, and it was fitted with pretty much new Toyo Proxes T1R’s on the front, and Toyo Proxes R32’s on the back. Now my question is, which would people swap so that the tyres were the same all round? I cant find any info on the R32’s anywhere (not that Iv looked THAT hard!)

I notice when driving fast the front tends to ‘skip’ accross the road surface when on the limit rather than just sliding smoothly, even on smooth road surfaces…Now I dont know whether this is down to the mismatched tyres, or a habit of Exiges etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated?! Iv not had this response from the T1Rs on other cars I have driven with them fitted.

P.S. Before anyone suggests replacing the whole set for 888’s etc, this is not currently an option since we are buying a new house and need to save as much as possible!

Cheers, Jonny

Get 2 more T1R’s on there and save for some 888’s

some more thoughts on here…

I think the T1’s are too hard so will skip when they aren’t hot like in Summer. The S2 can be understeery on turn-in but you can reduce this with driving style.

I got slightly wider (205) front tyres fitted and will never go back, I much prefer the sharper response from the front although it does make the car more oversteery. I expect you can probably get similar effects with geo and suspension setups too.
