Mileage on car ?

My 06 Exige is in the 40k zone now mileage wise. Had the car since March really happy with it. Drives better than some low mileage cars I test drove before buying this one. The usual noises but nothing I consider out of the ordinary.

what is the general consensus as to what we consider to be high mileage these days for the Exige ? is there anything I should be looking to change to keep the car in good shape with the mileage ?
Not so many years ago I know people were wary of S1 elises when they got past 30k

To be honest I would not worry, good servicing and preventative repairs is all you need, there are plenty of cars out there with double your mileage, the bigger problem can be selling them as everyone wants cars with low mileage :frowning:

Yep, the only thing it may affect will be resale as said above. There will always be one out there with less mileage than yours, so the main thing is to just enjoy it, maintain it, and get the most out of it you can

i wouldnt be worried about a 40k car. as long as its been serviced religiously and well looked after…

Agreed, with good regular maintenance the car should run and run. It is resale time that you are going to feel it though as there are simply loads of low mileage ones out there.

The one thing that does show its age early on is surface rust on the wishbones and uprights. Having these refurbed is a nice thing to do to keep everything looking fresh.

Agree…always used to pi$$ me off when I removed a wheel on a car 2 years old and the wishbones and uprights looked like they had been living at the bottom of the sea. Got uprights zinc coated and all the rest powder coated. All done at JSR.
Now looks the dogs doodahs

What does it cost to have a wishbone refurb?

40 k of mileage on an Exige should be a good bargaining lever when buying …
At least that’s what I thought until I tried to buy off Mr.Shaggy !!

I’d looked for a year to find the spec I was after and a few extra miles wasn’t Going to halt the purchase …
If used as an occasional car the average miles per year will fall into line…

Can anyone answer?

I can’t Properly answer that as mine includes, rose joints, fitting new dampers and a geo…I suppose the geo is part of the cost regardless fitting dampers too. But pm JSR, John did tell me the lone cost but I’ve forgot…it was reasonable from memory buddy. The cars going over there soon…

Yeah John is your man. JDS on here.

Okay, thanks for the replies.

sorry
best speak to John at JSR 01384 240 890
I had Nitrons fitted and a couple of other bits and bobs too

we also did all the steering rod ends and the toe link
even zinc plated the brake line brackets
Basically any thing that looked sh1t was sorted
and a very good job they did too!

As a ball park figure, we charge 10 hours to remove, strip, rebuild and refit and then set up the suspension on a like for like basis. Shot blasting and powdercaot/zinc plating is in the region of 200 for all the components - wishbones, uprights, front damper top mounts, toe link tubes, plus others as required. The other big cost is that you need to replace the bushes and ball joints, as if you leave them in, the powdercoating oven melts the rubber parts, and if you take them out you are gauranteed to need a couple of boots, and the bushes don’t like going in and out repeatedly. So simpler to replace all at this point so you know everyting is fresh.

Any other suspension labour at this time - dampers, arb, toe link kit - is almost free, as so much is a apart and a geo is included.
