I disconnected my carbon canister cable when looking for an ignition switched live BUT forgot to reconnect it before starting the car. Now I have a Mil light (I assume it’s related). Will this go off by itself after some delay or will I need to get it reset?

Should go off after a few restarts. Mine used to be on and off all the time playing with induction, exhausts etc.

IIRC you have to drive a reasonable distance 3 or 4 times for it to reset the MIL on its own, a friendly garage can read off the code and delete it for you or the last option by a code reader of ebay like a few of us have
