Mickey mouse throttle bodies....

In short, one of my Titan throttle bodies is absolute cack. The spindle is held in place by a pair of bearings that seem like they should be an interferance fit in the alloy throttle body (with the heat these are exposed to this seems like lunacy due to differing thermal expansion rates, but hey ho)and my throttle spindle has sideways play which can and has caused Wide open Throttle (WoT) jam on recent track days. Even after a refurb and on fitting the throttle pulley, I managed to disturb the spindle thus introducing that same play it had before refurbishment, Grrr! So I stripped them down and loctited in the bearings. Hopefully that’ll hold until the T/B’s are on the car, but in the meantime I’d like to know what options there are to replace the T/B’s?

I’ve looked into options such as Jenvey but I’d also be keen to know if anyone has used bike T/B’s off the likes of a Hayabusa etc? I’m aware that they are popular due to their precision engineered manufacture and I seem to remember that the Bogg Brothers will make up a custom manifold to adapt them to the K. I think this would be considerably cheaper than Jenvey’s but am also aware that I’d need to design a new inlet plenum (airbox) backplate, modify the throttle cable and have a RR session. Are there any reasons why I shouldn’t just get on and do it?

Cheers,
Kurt

Go for it Kurt, sounds good to me!

Sounds good Kurt, anything designed for high performance bikes is a very good place to start. Only downside I can see is that having to have a manifold to make it fit removes the benefit of having the butterflies and injectors as close to the inlet which kills throttle response a little.

Depending on which TBs you get, downsizing from the Titans 45mm can actually give benefits throughout the rev range but might not be as good for absolute top end power.
