After reading on various Lotus forums there seems to be more and more problems with the Meta Alarm / Immobiliser system…
Who�s still running the original immobiliser/alarm and who has upgraded to something else?
Standard alarm for me and no issues (so far)
Similar story for me. Following a short period with a low-voltage battery, the immobiliser and alarm lost synchronisation. As Lotus do not install the Meta transponder key socket, re-synchronisation is not possible and replacing both was the only answer … Subsequent installation much better thought out though!
I recently viewed a S1 and it also had similar problem also…
Meta system has a few common difficulties, but these are easily sorted or worked around for the most part.
Losing sync does not necessarily require the complete system to be replaced; if both units are working (which is usually the case - loss of sync is not terminal!) then a replacement immobiliser can be fitted and wired appropriately to give an increased level of security for around �50.
