So who is gonna be at Snett at the weekend.
I just have to fit my new rear toe lonks (Cheers AndyD) and then I am all ready.
I am actually going over for the Friday test day as well, as I have never been to Snetterton before.
Sean…

I will be there of course just wish Snett was not in the middle of nowhere.
I will be there bright and early with Tap (who flies back from the US the day before so will be even more chipper than usual )
Should be a great day - let’s hope for good weather and a bigger grid.
Nice avatar btw Sean - who could have been on the outside of Druids shooting such a great image
I should be there, test day too.

I do intend to buy a load of pics from you of the Brands meeting as you managed to get quite a few of my car and they all looked great!!! I will chat to you at Snett.

Of course I don’t mind mate, I’m just glad someone managed to put together a photogenic paint-job,…not that I am having a dig at Russ
Look forward to seeing you on Saturday.
I will see you Friday afternoon then chaps - doing the half day testing.
Ben, you need to get a better camera Mate.
I’ll be there on Saturday, but not racing
A quick message from George for information:-
Subject: Snetterton!
Good morning everyone!
YOKOHAMA midenginedsportscars Series 2006. Round 2 - Snetterton 3 June
Just a quick note to remind a few late entrants that you could squeeze in an entry to this Saturday’s race if you’re very quick. I know that we had a couple of applications accepted yesterday. Call Jane at AMOC now!
We have the prospect of a fine grid with SIX different marques! With the wettest May since 1773 behind us, the forecast is DRY!
A big welcome to new boys Tony, Simon and Steve (and possibly another) and welcome back Rex, Richard and Steve. Our Series is a great place to race.
I’m on British GT duty this weekend in Pau www.britishgt.com/gallery.php?event=2&season=2006 so I won’t make it up to Norfolk…but look out for Teddy - he’ll sticker you up and help with any admin - and for Ben and Jason from TSU, who’ll point a lens at you when least expected. Graham Horgan will be around to judge on those power2weight rules!
Have fun!
Yours, George Mackintosh

Ben, you need to get a better camera Mate.
Don’t encourage him, you could literally be responsible for taking food from a baby!
That man can’t help himself when it comes to camera equipment.
Ian
LOL - thanks for that Ian, “the voice of reason”
True, I don’t need any encouragement, but I do need some cash…having burnt it all on Honda, Brakes, Nitrons, Gauges, Splitter, Diffuser,…shall I go on (…and yes I could go on )
The beastie should be ready soon …and then I can start building the business case for a new camera
Will see you boys on Saturday…Probably not all that early though, I have a 40th in Leics to go to Friday night.
MADDOG: I’ll be there on Saturday
Only because I found out it WAS Saturday & not Sunday!!
Looking forward to it
Just wanted to wish Sean and Russ best of luck for the weekend.
Just wanted to wish Sean and Russ best of luck for the weekend.
don’t forget Christian (Quo) too - he’s out in the Scuffham Elise and Steven (Azrael) if his engine is ready
Should be a good day - expect a TSU gallery some time early next week.
Good luck to all the lotus lads tomorrow. SeanB - have a good day out, though I would imagine you are going to feel like you need a bit more power on a high speed circuit like Snett.

Wasn’t that the truth!!!
Sean did very well despite losing the altrenator then the clutch & doing the endurance race stuck in 5th!
Sorry for Russ whose engine expired before the race
Christian did very well though & Maddog & I had a great day
You mean a Honda?
You must be mistaken, Hondas never expire!
Just got up, after getting home from Snett at about 12:30 this morning. I am knackered!!!
Had a disappointing couple of races, but a really great weekend with all things considered.
I drove over on Thursday evening so I could be at the test day bright and early on the Friday morning as I had never been to Snetterton before. The day started well, until lap six of the first session when my bloody throttle cable broke! Dodgy S2 Exige cable!!! Lol. Nah it was just one of those things I guess.
Of course I had a spare, NOT!!! So in the end the Plans boys helped me out and we shortened the original outer which in effect made our inner long enough to reconnect.
The rest of the test day went OK, The sessions were 50 minutes, so I thought as I was doing the whole of the endurance race myself (my 2nd driver had to pull out the night before) I would see how long I could stay out for. I mean I have done 45 minute sessions at track days before without any problems. After about 35 minutes I came in and virtually need oxygen and resuscitation equipment to get out of the car, I was knackered. Driving every lap in the car like you stole it was really taking it out of me. Plus it didnt take me long to realise my standard VHPD was going to struggle down the straights, so I was doing everything I could to try and make it up in the corners. I was still a good 3 seconds down on Russs lap times though.
I actually timed an Aston, as we came onto the back straight (WOW those things go in a straight line!!) I was virtually touching his bumper as we went onto the straight, by the end of the straight he was 3 seconds in front!!!
Russ and all of the guys were complaining about wheel spin out of the slower corners, I was thinking, Jesus, my car has never wheel span out of a corner. Lol.
Had a great night out with the guys, Martin Edwards, Russ, Pesky, Tony and I all stayed in the same B&B and in the pub on the night, Russ came out with possibly one of the best chat up lines I have ever witnessed.
OK so race day came and qualifying went OK, considering my lack of power, the car was running well. Then we came to start the car to go to the holding area for the first race and it wouldnt start, we jumpstarted it and off I went to the assembly area. When I got there, I noticed the battery warning light on and I was only seeing 9.4 volts. One of my lads ran and got a volt meter only to confirm the alternator had packed up!!!. Luckily the race before ours was red flagged and restarted with 7 minutes still to run, we got the car back to the garage and John from Plans and my two guys changed the alternator in 7 minutes!!! Unfortunatly I didnt make it back to the assembly area and had to start the race from the pit lane. Pretty uneventful race actually, I was the only car on the grid with a K series and the only car that didnt have either a turbo charger or a super charger or a bloody great V8. Lol, but hey ho, I finished and that was one signature on the license.
Towards the end of the race I had noticed it was getting difficult to change down the box. When I pulled back into the garage, the clutch wouldnt disengage at all, so we bled it, but to no avail. It sounded bloody horrible, like some of the friction material had come off and was flying around inside the bell housing. We quickly threw some more fuel in and pushed the car to the assembly area for the last race.
With a push the car went and we did the green flag lap, as we came back to the grid, I had the car in first, the clutch down and I had to hold it on the brake as it was creeping forwards, by the time the red lights came on the smell from the clutch was unreal. The lights went out and I didnt have too bad a start considering. I have to say though, flying into the first corner surrounded by massive great Astons and stuff was a bit scary, but I held in there and I reckon I had taken about 4 people by the time we got to the back straight, then of course it was all over as everyone just monstered past me. Lol.
I was changing gear with out the clutch, which is fine going up the box, but does put quite a lot of strain on things coming down and three laps in the box decided it wasnt going to change down at all, so that was that it was in 5th gear and wouldnt move. The pit stop was interesting, I basically hit the kill switch as I came into the pit lane and the guys all had to push my car to bump start it and get it going in 5th gear. That was pretty much it, I made it to the end, got another signature and also got a trophy for coming first in class (up to 2000cc). I will add, with Russ not able to race and a Healey braking down I was the only finisher in my class. Lol.
Huge thanks to the Plans guys, who helped me out when ever I needed it. Thanks to Wayne and Tony, my two ever faithful mechanics. Cheers to Russ, Pesky and the Edwards boys for there help and support and a good night out!!
Congratulations to Christian on an excellent first race weekend!!!
Condolences to Russ, who had problems at the end of qualifying and couldnt make the Races.
Roll on Silverstone, but not too quickly as I have a few rather large things to fix. Fingers crossed I will have my new engine by then and I will be able to keep up with the big boys!!!
Nice write up Sean
Bloody good weekend “overall”, & we certainly had a few laughs as well as tears
Anyone fancy a bag of nuts?
