Mallory Park Anyone?

Nick Whale is organising a track day at Mallory Park Tuesday 5th March.Cost is only 120 for 5 x 30 min sessions, Lotus technicians will be on hand and driving instructors if required.Believe there are 10 or so places left.

Is it open to car cars other than Elise & Exige?

Yes any car not even restricted to Lotus, I know there are a few TVR’s and 911’s in attendance.

I finally popped my trackday cherry at Mallory yesterday. Unbelievable! I loved it more than I could have hoped for. Isn’t it amazing how the Exige can make ‘faster’ cars like Ferraris, TVRs, Porsches etc. look slow? The only downsides were watching another Exige crash out. (He made a bit of a mess of his frontend, but nobody was hurt.) Oh, and the Chimaera which rolled into the back of my car while it was parked in the paddock [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/frown.gif[/image] He relied on his handbrake to hold it when his brakes were still hot. Naturally, the brakes cooled, and the inevitable happened [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/shocked.gif[/image] Funnily enough, the same thing happened half an hour later. This time, a Tuscan rolled into Nick Whale’s Noble demonstrator.Anbody got a spare rear clam ? If they do use the handbrake, they are likely to boil the brake fluid, & possibly warp the discs!Sorry to hear about the rear clam [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/frown.gif[/image][This message has been edited by Pesky (edited 06 March 2002).]

TVR’s - TADTSSuffered an unfortunate incident at a Prescott Hill Climb day when the front of my Chimaera became wedged under the back of a replica Jag D Type - I watched in slow motion as it moved slowly and surely towards it but couldn’t get in quick enough to stop it !The Jag owner was incredibly stoic and said not to worry he knew a good repair man and wouldn’t dream of asking me to pay !

I am racing at Mallory in the Exige on Sunday - anyone welcome to come and say hello (at least it will take my mind of trying to get around there against 21 other cars!)How did you find Mallory? There is not much run off, as an Elise racing there last time found out coming off Gerrards backwards at about 100mph, but still a great corner. Devil’s Elbow - just before start/finish - now there is a corner for the brave!Cheers

Brendan,If that was your first track day god help the rest of us, you were carrying quite a bit of pace around the circuit.I certainally had a job keeping up!!

Not that I noticed anybody keeping up [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image] Did I get to speak to you on the day? I had a little chat with a couple of the Exige owners, but can’t remember any names. The chap with the slicks was bloody quick!Pesky,No, there were no warnings about using handbrakes. I already know not to do it, but obviously a number of TVR owners are unaware.Mark,I’d love to go and watch you race on Sunday (if 'er indoors will let me). Any idea what time the race is on?Despite the lack of run-off, I thought Mallory was great for a beginner. Not too many corners to learn. How did the Elise get on with his 100mph exit from Gerrards? Not too well, I would guess. Gerrards has to be my favourite corner, because the Exige is sooo much quicker through there than most other cars. I was gaining at least 50 yds a lap on a Ferrari 360 just because of that corner [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image] I had a big spin through the esses, I think it was due to the engine cutting out when I ran out of petrol [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/shocked.gif[/image]Good luck on Sunday if I don’t see you.[This message has been edited by Brendan (edited 07 March 2002).]

I’ve just found some pictures from the day on pistonheads.com

I think its about 3ish - but my timetable is at home. The Elise that came off at Gerrards cost 12k to fix.It is of course mothers day on Sunday - now I just have to find an excuse not to visit. Haven’t told her about the Exige yet (nearly 1 year old) let alone that I have started racing [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]

Out of interest who picks up the tab from the crash in the pits lane when a stationary car in hit?I take it out on the track you pay your own bills?

OK, good tip for you Mark. DON’T fall off from Gerrards.Snapper,As the cars were just parked up in the paddock, I’m claiming off his normal road insurance.
