Over 150 entered cars for weekend Classic car event…
Over 150 classic cars will take to the region’s roads this Sunday to take part in the annual MAC Classic, a tour through the countryside for classic vehicles and modern sports cars, culminating with a drive up the track of Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb.
Organised by the MAC, the event is planned to be a classic car extravaganza, giving drivers the choice of four start venues at RAF Cosford, near Wolverhampton, the Forest of Dean Heritage Centre, near Gloucester, the National Motor Museum, Gaydon and a circular route setting off from Shelsley Walsh itself.
After an early breakfast, each journey will be approximately 100 miles long, following a ‘tulip guide road book’ through glorious English back roads, arriving around lunchtime.
Event organiser Tony Harrison said: "The 22nd of April is also national ‘Drive-it-Day’ where all owners of classic cars throughout the country are being encouraged to dust them off and take them out for a spin, so we are hoping that many of these people will take the opportunity to come along and join in the day, which promises to have a relaxed and carnival atmosphere.
"Spectators are very welcome and they will see a diverse range of cars from across the years being used and enjoyed as they really should be.
"At Shelsley Walsh we will have music provided by Tenbury Town Band, a pig-roast and barbeque, and the historic courtyard and water mill will be open for visitors to view the restoration work.
“Every car entered in the actual event will receive a commemorative tour plate and receive a photograph of their car driving up this historic course and we are all looking forward to a truly classic occasion.”
